Last nite my phone slipped out of my hand in the bathroom and did a 360 and landed on its face on the hard stone bathroom floor. I heard a loud sound like Window glass shattering.
I picked up my phone and the whole left side of the screen was CRACKED!
The right side semi cracked. Although still funcioning. Metros site says its shatter resistant. NO WAY SHATTER PROOF! Disappointed with gorilla glass.
My phone is rooted but without a custom rom. I plan on factory resetting once asurion sends the replacement. pain in butt unroot and reroot all over again. Word to the wise ALL PHONES BREAK! Always buy insurances its five bucks a month. This calamity cost me 99 bucks.

It doesn't matter if it had Rhino glass, Incredible Hulk glass... it's still glass.

It's not made to be dropped from heights higher than your pocket or else the glass would be a half inch thick.

I have also had my phone on my lap and got out of my vehicle and launched it onto the concrete. Every time I have dropped mine, it's come out unscathed lol.

Just put in your insurance claim, get a new one and then spend the 15-25 bucks on a case. Much cheaper than forking out 100 clams every time.

:)

Theres a huge difference from being scratch resistant and shatter ressistant lmao if ya wanted something shatter proof perhaps these companies need to start using bullet proof glass atleast 3 inch thick lol

the new version 2 gorilla glass will be prove to be stronger so dont know what to really expect from their new improved product but heres a sneak peak for those of ya that did not bother watching the 2012 ces on youtube.

a buddy of mine from the howard forum pointed out that the actual stock screen protector that came with the esteem is actually the best and to leave it on and i have to agree with him i left mine for a month then later decided to purchase one from a metro store since they were so cheap but regretted it....

i get lucky my phone is always being dropped.. it always lands on the corners..and as you may know they break easier when they land in the corner.. i have been really lucky... and i don't have insurance

Nice. Yeah I hardly drop my phone and when it does, it falls on the corners and my case takes the hit. I just took off my screen protector a month ago and my screen is still spotless like new so I might keep it off. Plus it looks much better without it :)

True that everything is breakable, but I am starting to think the Esteem doesnt really have gorilla glass. I've seen test n it takes alot more to break it than what its been taking to break the esteem/revo's. Just my opinion tho ;)

The front and back of the iPhone 4/4s are covered in Gorilla Glass and those break all the time. This stuff is not indestructible, it's just hardened and is meant to prevent scratches.

The gorilla glass is break and scratch RESISTANT, not break and scratch proof. I know, sucks. I was trying to show off my gorilla glass to a friend and took a box cutter to it. no scratches at all. Then I got brave and really dug into it ( stupid i know, but i was amazed myself how nothing happened the first time) and now i see like a little scribble on the glass whenever it hits the light at a certain angle. Needless to say that was the end of me trying to show off.
