Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Here is an interesting story in my mind.

FAA rips Delta passenger for filming bird strike with iPad | Fox News

Need to go find that video first of all. Second of all, the iPad is more and more being introduced to the cockpit environment, and especially with a device in airplane mode, is transmitting or receiving nothing from its surroundings. How much longer before device usage during all stages of flight are no longer taboo.

Morning all! Happy Friday (and happy almost done to those who have to work tomorrow :()
Was awakened today at 5:45 by one of the best thunderstorms ever. Over by 6:20 so I went back to sleep. :D
Hope everyone has a nice day!!

I love thunderstorms. Not the severe ones, the ones with light-moderate rain and a rumbling thunder. I sleep the best with those.

Morning everyone and happy Friday!!!
Heard great things about this thread so I wanted to join in.

Hello everyone :hello:
*waves* Hi Charles!!! Long time no talk, man! I was just wondering who was going to call you Chris! ;) *looks down at Chief*

(1) Welcome aboard Chris! :D
I take it you didn't read Charles' introduction post in Guide Central ;)

I would never buy the note, it is just too big. Plus I really dislike HTC phones. The Nexus 1 was the only good one they have ever released.

The Nexus One was a great phone at its time. Google pushed the envelope and showed the OEMs how a real Android phone should be. You forgot some of the Nexus One's pitfalls. Need I remind you of the ClearPad2000 sensor that only allows dual touch? What about the radio that weakens when you hold the phone at the lower half of the phone.

Good Morning all. My next class starts today, Strength and Fatigue of Materials. Probably the most technically involved class yet. Should be interesting. Hope everyone has a great... FRIDAY!
What program are you studying? :)

Good morning all and Happy Friday - TGIF!

Such an awesome win for the Devils last night. Never should have gone into OT, but a win is a win and to go up 2-1 against the Flyers is awesome. Hoping we can go up 3-1 next game, which happens to be Marty's 40th birthday. That would be an outstanding day for Devils fans.

Finished 95% of my app last night and got almost everything working. Went to deploy it to my iPod Touch last night only to realize I need an iOS5 device and my iPod Touch barely supports iOS3 so going to try the girlfriend's phone on Sunday night. Its a bit different process than with Android, so just need to get used it to. Last thing I want to implement is the in-app purchase to get rid of ads so need to find how to do that in Titanium today, then just do some device testing and publish the app for review by Apple. Finished the icon design - screenshot of it and my splash screen below (splash screen is what displays as the app is loading in the background).

I took a Materials class in school, but it was my only once since I was a Computer Engineer - just a core engineering class. Good luck!

Happy Star Wars Day!

May the 4th be with you! :D

Now to summon up enough Force to get through this busy weekend...

Happy Star Wars Day to you as well!

Decided it was time to flash M5 last night. Had been happy on B33 but I'm a sucker for Milestones. Also wanted to flash the new radios so I just did a complete wipe and flashed the new radios, AOKP M5, and LeanKernel 3.3. All new stuff running today so we'll see if there is a noticeable difference.

Let me know how M5 is - thinking of coming from gummyNex to M5, but we shall see. Would like some opinions.

App is looking good Stig. I've got a question about in-app purchases for Android I'll PM ya.

Never been a big NHL fan but hoping the Predators can pull off another W tonight and even the series. Really would love for them to go all the way.

I've never had any problems out of AOKP and don't expect any out of M5. Going to keep a watch on battery usage and make sure Android OS doesn't creep back up with this version of LeanKernel...had one version that ran up around 20% but flashed a different one and it went back down to 4-5% again, so it wasn't AOKP. I doubt I'll ever run anything but this ROM and Kernel combo, they seem to work very well with my phone and the features are great. They keep making little tweaks to improve them every time as well.

It looks really good :) You know what's cool if you can make the arrow of the scale move in the splash screen as the app loads and shows how much has loaded.

Now that would be awesome.

Let me see if you can do animated splash screens somehow. Unfortunately the splash screen is there for such a short amount of time you would barely notice the scale arrow moving, but let me see what I can come up with.

Thanks for all the feedback and help the past week!

Personally, I think electronics in not transmitting mode should be allowed during all phases in flight. As far as cockpit usage of iPads, pilots still aren't allowed to use them below 10,000 feet.

That said, the rules are the rules. Even though I disagree with the rule, I disagree more with the passenger ignoring the FAA instructions.

I can tell you I'd be a much better passenger if I could be distracted during take off. But noooooo, gotta put all my toys away and my senses go into overdrive. (I'm fine once we are in the air) :D

Hello everyone :hello:

Well, even though this is the "Galaxy Nexus" Watering Hole I guess we'll let you play. :) (Maybe BabyBlues should change the title of the thread to make it more accepting to all like-minded Android users)

Reading through your first few posts you'll obviously fit in Chrls!

I agree I'd also prefer to be reading on my Nexus or Kindle. I can understand no computers out because they could be a dangerous weapon during an aborted takeoff, but BB, I don't think the other passengers would appreciate you using your "toys" any time during the flight.

Depends on the passengers I think. :p

And I hope you mean you'd like to be reading when you're a passenger. :p:p:p:D
