Help Anyone can help to solve the problem? It is Droid X!

Hi everyone! My friend got a problem using a Droid X with it freezing up to the point where she has to pull the battery. Some apps she thought may cause the problem has been uninstalled then reinstalled. But it still has the problem. Does anyone know how to solve this issue? Thanks for your help!

i have moved this thread to the Droid X section, where all the subject matter experts can help you along your path of getting your friend situated.

but first let me try this.

if your friend figured there were apps that were causing the freezing, and she uninstalled them, why reinstall them?

also do you have ATK(Advanced Task Killer) on the device? if so uninstall it!

a list of apps may help but probably not, when does the device actually begin to freeze up? during applications? or during other tasks? more info on that will be needed to give you the correct answer and get your friend ready to enjoy her phone again

Most of what she used Dolphin HD to browse the internet, so she thought it may cause the problem. For this reason she uninstalled and reinstalled it.

Yeah, maybe it needs a factory reset. But there are many important data on her phone such as contact data, messages, apps. She did not want to lose them or redownload then reninstall apps one by one.

Just thought I would mention it, but as long as your friend makes sure they sync their contacts with their Gmail account, they should be able to reload the contacts after the Factory Reset by doing a sync with Gmail.

Check to make sure that the contacts on your friend's phone are saved to Gmail and not to their phone and then have them to a forced sync before doing the Factory Reset

Syncing to Google contacts, that is a way. For me, I don't like to upload my contact data to any unknown internet space. Anyway, thanks for your advice.

It freezes up sometimes while using Dolphin Browser, and other times when she is trying to go to home by pressing the home button.

"feezes a lot using the Home button". Sounds like she isn't getting out of apps and leaving a gazillion of them open. use the back button to get out of the app before going to the home screen or use the menu button, close, to get out of apps. If you leave them open, they just run. Yeah Linux is supposed to take care of that, but...

I was having the same problem and fixed it by doing two things:

- erasing my large phone and text message logs (Some improvement, but not 100%)
- replacing my SD card (big improvement)

To replace the card, I attached the USB cable as Mass Storage, copied everything to my hard drive, detached the USB, replaced the SD card, formatted the SD card using the PHONE's formatting function (Settings, Storage, Unmount SD card, Format SD card). Do not format using your computer. Then I reattached the USB cable and copied everything back from my computer to my phone.

Hope this help someone
