Root Problem with rooting this phone.

OK so Im trying to root my moms phone so I can make a back up and flash from it to my phone. But the problem is, is that after I root the phone and flash cwm I get an error sayin that I'm not rooted even though I am. I tried flashing cwm like 5 times and still no go. Its a Sprint TU.

Flash it through Odin

Bads3ctor's cwm for Ultra

This is the error i get when i start up cwm: you must root your phone for ROM manager to function. Superuser was not found at "/system/bin/su" or "/system/xbin/su". Use google search on your computer to find instructions to root your phone.

Wait your using ROM manager???? Install the custom cwm we have here for the Ultra. ROM manager will brick your phone.

You did enable debugging right? Also try redownloading, file might have gotten corrupted ... also have you tested su by running an apply that requires root. Reinstall Samsung drivers.

I'm sure you have already double checked these, just trying to help in case you have not.
Good luck.... if all else fails, hail Odin.

Yea I had debbugin enabled. And yes I downloaded su an tried opening cwm but it told me that I had to have my phone rooted first. I'll try redownloading 2morrow and as for the drivers, interdepths link is dead.

The links to root are also dead.

Edit: OK I just found the zipped folder on my downloads folder. I unzipped it and my antivirus detected a virus...so I guess it kept deleting a file which caused the bat file not to work properly. I just paused and I'm going to try to reroot.
2nd edit: OK I've rooted successfully.

Thank you ALL for helping me out!

Can anyone verify that S.O.C.-Zegrush method works for phones on latest 2.3.6 update? I get the same thing DMajor239 was getting. Do I have to odin back to earlier version and then update after root? Never had a problem before on Samsung phones. Yes all the simple stuff A.V. null, proper drivers (can push .apk's through adb) shown in Dev Mgr correctly, etc.... Anyone with 2.3.6 update pre-root WITH SUCCESS feel free to chime away.
