How do you adjust the size of a picture to fit the screen to use as wallpaper?

Hi I'm a fifty year old retired cop who is totally lost when dealing with computers or the like. On the job when an officer needs help we call a 10-13. So here goes my first ever experience in a chat room. 10-13 lol

when you select a pic as a wallpaper ... the pic will be displayed with a crop box ... grab the edges of that box and size the pic and portion to be displayed as the wallpaper ... the OS will then fit it to your screen ...

Hi all,

Thanks for responding to my post. As mentioned I did try croping the picture however it enlarges it to cover from screen to screen. would like it to be the same size on all screens. Picture in question is the N.Y.P.D. patch. I would love to have it shown completely on each screen. can this be done?

Sorry all i neglected to say what phone im useing. It's the HTC Hero. Carier is Sprint.
