Ok I own a Optimus V of course and I had my phone rooted to delete the stock apps I didn't wont. Well I forgot all about my phone being rooted and I did a factory reset so now I loads up and boots into recovery. I tried following the step in (http://androidforums.com/optimus-v-...4-do-not-factory-reset-your-rooted-phone.html) but the recovery.zip file does not exist anymore so Ive looked and looked and still find nothing so can someone please help me find something.

Thanks Brandon

To find out if you have a recovery, when the phone is off, press volume down, home and power buttons until the lg splash comes on and brings you to a recovery screen. If you have recovery, follow these steps: (if you don't have a recovery, see below)
download a new rom (like the latest BACKside IHO) onto your computer. This will be a .zip file. Then, use adb push to push the .zip onto your phone. you must have adb installed on your computer. (google adb, it's the first link, you'll probably have to download it.)
when you go to push the .zip onto your phone, put the .zip into the same folder as the adb command is in. Copy the address of the folder that they are both in. Next, open command prompt. type exactly as i say, replacing FOLDER with the folder that you copied and then ROM with the name of the rom that you downloaded.

cd FOLDER
adb push /ROM.zip /sdcard

This should put the rom onto your sd card. After this, go into your recovery. Wipe data/factory reset. wipe cache. wipe dalvik. (this might be in the advanced folder). Then reboot system into recovery Then click install zip from sdcard>choose zip from sdcard>the name of the new rom. it should work.

If you do not have recovery...
You are probably going to have to see this thread. It's pretty complicated, but it can be fixed by doing exactly what it says. (oh it'll tell you to put your phone into e-mode. that is, plug usb into computer and phone and hold down, in this order, back button, volume down, and power until the lg splash comes up)

You will need the LG Optimus V drivers on your PC, they are found here http://www.lg-phones.org/wp-content/uploads/LG-Optimus-V.zip (you phone cannot be plugged into the PC when installing the drivers). Once installed reboot your PC.
To set up ADB in you PC's system path go here New pre-packaged ADB installation
This is fool proof and has worked 100% of the time.
If you don't have a custom recovery installed (if you only have 4-5 options in the recovery instead of 8-9 options you don't have a custom recovery)you will need to put it and the flash_image on the SD card as well as the ROM and Gapps. Turn power to the phone off and then pull the SD card and install on a PC.
Go here flash_image
Then go here BobZohme modified CWMod recovery (VM670NH_recovery.img) Rename the recovery to recovery.img
Download the BACKside ROM found here http://androidforums.com/optimus-v-...wip-backside-rom-cm7-green-machine-theme.html and the 2011828 gapps found here Latest Version/Google Apps - CyanogenMod Wiki
Then put everything on the root of the SD card(not in any folder, just near the bottom of the list of folders).
Put SD card back in the phone and then power up and plug phone into the computer. Wait for the drivers to finish installing.

Open up a command prompt and type in each line of code making sure you hit the enter key after each line:
cd..
cd..
cd SDK/platform-tools
adb shell
(You should get a #). If you don't get a # but got a $ instead type in:
su
(you should now get a #). If you did not get a # put got a $ after, you are not rooted.
You will need to go to the link that andrewnelson32 posted.
If you got a # then go here http://androidforums.com/optimus-v-...ry-reset-your-rooted-phone-3.html#post3263770 Go to step 6a. and start with line #2 and go all the way to step 9.

EDIT: If you have a custom recovery installed use the recovery that kwknott provided below.

Make sure you put the ROM and Gapps on the root of the sd card as well. Install it on the root of the SD card, but leave it zipped. After putting the SD card back in phone press Home+Volume down then power button(hold down all at the same time), when you see the LG logo you can let go.
Then in the recovery menu select "install zip from SD card". Then "select zip from sd card". Select the recovery.zip. After install hit the back button and scroll down to the advanced section. Select it and then select "reboot recovery". This will boot up into the new recovery.
Then go into the advanced section and select the "fix recovery loop" option. Hit the back button.
once in the recovery's main menu follow step 7. in my tutorial I linked to. Follow it all the way to step 9.

From what I read in the OP's first post he: didn't have a custom recovery, didn't have a nandroid backup, was rooted with the stock ROM, and then just didn't like something and wanted to get rid of all user data and start from scratch. Just forgot that he was rooted,Oops!
That is why I included some much info.

I know a little more than some, not as much as others.
I try to read not only what the OP has posted, but in between the lines as well, what he really needs.
I just have a strong desire to go the extra mile for a member. I like to give them all the info they need and maybe just a little more for good measure.
I can still remember being a confused, stressed out, new member looking to fix my phone. Wouldn't wish that on anybody.

download a different rom and use adb to put the rom onto the phone. Then while in recovery mode wipe data, cache, and dalvik. Reboot into recovery(pull out battery put it back in and boot into recovery) install zip from SD card. Find the rom. Confirm. After its finished, reboot. Should work. If it doesn't, make sure you put the rom onto the root of the SD card. If you did and it still didn't work, try a different rom.

This phone is almost un-brickable. :D

Sent from my LG-VM670 using Tapatalk

Same with the Optimus m, except there was one time the PC and phone was set up correctly and it wouldn't unbrick at all, some error kept showing up on LGNPST and it wouldn't continue the unbrick process after 1%.....so be careful, your phone could be a non unbrickable.

So this is what im doing step by step:

-Downloading a rom and takeing my sd card out and puting it in another phone so that I can place the file on it. (I just copy and past the zip into card)

-I then place the card back into my phone and do all the wipe date, cache, dalvik. and reboot it.

-I then go to (install zip from sdcard) and find the file and hit ok.....It goes through the process untill it says complete then it restarts and falls back into recovery mode.

Am i doing something wrong?

You need to wipe /data /boot /system /cache /dalvik-cache and wipe battery stats after your battery is at 100%
