Help Can't connect Evo4G to 5 Ghz Dual Band router

Ok I just bought a dual band router than does both 2.4 and 5 Ghz at the same time.

Evo4G can connect to 2.4 but not the 5 Ghz.
Anyone else having this problem.

How will I know if my future smart phone can the 5Ghz?

Is the router a wireless-N router? If so, I don't believe the stock HTC kernel supports it.

If your phone is rooted I can link you to a kernel that would work

Just looked at the specs for Evo4G from HTC
HTC EVO? 4G - Sprint: Cell Phones & Smartphones

For some reason I thought it can handle 802.11 b/g/n.
Guess not.
I feel quite the fool.

Well, basically any of the custom kernels for rooted phones support it.

If the phone is rooted I can make some suggestions, if not and you are curious about the process I can link you to the rooting guide that you would need. I will need your H-boot number to do so and that will require you to pull the battery out of the phone, put it back in, and hold power+volume down. This will bring you to your H-boot screen and post your h-boot number (should be along the lines of2.16 or 2.18
