Car Charger: Monoprice Solution or OEM Solution

I looked through a bunch of car charger threads, and there seems to be a lot of mixed answers. Some people say their monoprice charger works perfectly, others say it sometimes works, while others say it has damaged their battery.

My question is do the OEM chargers actually work as intended, or am I going to have the same issues as with the monoprice chargers?

I'm deciding between:

1. Monoprice charger ~$3
2. PointMobl Micro USB Vehicle Power Adapter : Power Adapters | RadioShack.com
3. HTC micro-USB Car Charger & Cable

These other charger might have this coding too, or they might haven't it.

I doubt the monoprice cables have "connector" coding. The real question is will every device see this as a non-usb connection? I don't know how much longer I'm going to be keeping my incredible.

All my HTC chargers have the same coding (jumpering data pins) and as I know Samsung's and Motorola's have it too.
It's a recommendation for charger by USB standards.

Apple has a different connector coding in their cables

For a new phone you might google for its pinout.
