So I think I messed up.....

After following Matlock's post about upgrading to 2.1 I tried to restore all of my files using Sprite Mechanic. (Going back and re-reading his post he says that it doesn't work in 2.1----DOH!) After installing Astro I tried re-installing Sprite Mechanic from the backup folder that I made with Sprite Mechanic thinking that was the way to get all of the back-up apps out of the back-up folder and onto the phone........BAD IDEA!! I started Sprite Mechanic and proceeded to push the "Restore" tab and it brought up a list of all backed-up apps. I scrolled through them, deciding which ones I really wanted back and which ones I could do without, and then pushed the "Restore" button. Well, my phone froze up and would only display the status bar across the top. I tried pushing different buttons, but to no avail. I decided that maybe it was "working"----restoring all of the many apps that I had asked it to replace on the phone. I gave it a few minutes and tried to mount it to the computer to see if I could maybe get into it that way. Nope.....It brought up the screen that asked if I wanted to mount, sync or charge but the touchscreen wouldn't recognize any touch from my fingers.......GODDAMMIT!!! After a few more minutes I tried the "Home" button again and it brought up the home screen, but the touchscreen still was not working. I tried turning the phone off and that's when the home screen started to fade and everything froze. SONOFABEOTCH!!!

I then decided to remove the battery and the microSD card from the phone and delete everything on it and start over with a fresh install of 2.1. (I backed-up all of the files to my computer, just in case.....)

Anyway, sorry for the long rant, but I think it is back to operational status once again. I just have to put the backed-up apps folder on the phone and use Astro to re-install them.

Cliffs: Dont use Sprite Mechanic to try and re-install all of your backed-up apps.......It will only cause heartache and despair. :)

*shakes head* Poor guy. You installed the Sprites from your SD card didn't ya? (they are not on the Market for 2.1) lol Learned your lesson huh? rofl Don't feel bad though. You learned something new from it.. follow instructions step-by-step. lol

But anyway, glad everything is working out for ya.

Yep....That's exactly what I did. And I found that it might be almost impossible to brick your phone because of software problems*. If you do something like this that jacks it up, simply clear the SD card, drag your copy of the 2.1 zip file onto it, insert it into the phone and start over. Love it!!

*Disclaimer--It may be possible....I do not claim to know everything....unless you ask my wife, then she'll say I do. :)
