Root New contract

Well in 5 months' time you'll know what sort of developer support those handsets have. Of course there will probably be something else by then (the next Nexus should be on the horizon by then, I guess, though let's fact it, that'll probably lack an SD slot...).

The One X already has a fair range of ROMs, and I'm sure the S3 will garner substantial developer support (because I'm sure it will be a very popular phone). You'd think that the Ascend D Quad would attract attention too, for the same reasons it's caught people's eyes here, but I don't know whether it's quite the certainty that the other 2 are.

I've been following the One X forum since its release to see how it panned out and what people thought of it, problems they have etc., and they seem like a really nice bunch of friendly helpful folks, so I guess it's an android thing, and whichever phone you choose people will be helpful.

The only differentiation will likely be how many people develop for it and use it, with the more popular phones building a more comprehensive knowledge and resource base. I see the Ascend D Quad as the one that might suffer in this regard, as the One X is already enjoying huge popularity, and the SGS3 is likewise going to have huge numbers of people all over it.

Ah well i doubt you will have it for yourself dan, lol
I really like the look of the sgs3, especially as it has an sd slot and removable battery.
But I can't see samsung releasing another huge smart phone before October when I'm due, unless they have a sgs3s like some other manfacturer lol.
And you can guarantee the samsung should have a good dev following.
I've not looked into the rooting side of the newer htc's yet, but it's on my list of to do's
