Root a newer leak!

this one could turn out to be the OTA,well see. i havent run it yet to compare to previous.

yikes! i had no idea either. the few things i keep in dropbox do not attract "excessive traffic" i guess. ill take your link down above so it doesnt get suspended again

Has anyone run this thing yet? Or just the radios maybe? I'm curious if it's worth blowing up my phone for this leak or if I should just install the radios - or do nothing :bath:

its slowly but surely flashing as i type ive read good things but ill have actual opinions at the end of the day

ive allready seen claims of smoother,running cooler,and better battery,but im a lil skeptical,the build number isnt that far off from the last one,it just seems thered have to be some pretty major code revisions to get that drastic of a change,but i guess its posible

After some hiccups and doing some reading, I loaded Scott's rooted version of this leak ([ROM / LEAK] 5/8 - Stock Rooted RUU 3.14.605.5 / Truly De-Odexed! / Root works! - xda-developers), wiped, and then flashed his Clean ROM 4.4 (Scott's ROMS - Home)next. That fixed problems I was having with WiFi and 3G/4G data connections with the 5/2 leak. I'd tried just flashing the kernel for the 5/7 leak yesterday, but that didn't fix the problems I was having.

It seems like most people were not having these data connection problems with the 5/2 leak, but there was a subset of us who were. I haven't tried this flash and reflash with any other ROMs myself, but I assume it should cure or prevent any problems with folks using any Sense 3.6 based ROMS.

As for how it's working, it's only been about 4 hours for me so I can't tell you much yet on battery and heat. I can say that the data connections are rock solid for me now!

I'm curious to hear how everyone else who gives it a whirl does with it!

I've been running it for a a day or so now, and I can tell you I'm much happier overall with this! Data is great, the phone seems much smoother, and I'm so glad that the lockscreen shortcuts aren't connnected to the launcher icons. My phone never really had issues with heating or battery drain. I'm completely stock s-on and re-locked.

Does swype work on this version? I have to get swype to work, I'm going crazy trying to use swiftkey and the stock keyboard.

not sure about swipe.

it doesnt seem to me to be much different than the other leaks- the others ive run have seemed pretty fluid. battery life,heat,etc. all seem pretty on par. ive had pretty solid data on all leaks,as well,especially after "clearing storage" in hboot.

the one thing that drives me nuts,is frequently when typing the search box pops up its done it on every leak ive run,and actually even does it on the asianic ICS im running on my sensation so i cant be 100% sure its not user error

overall,no real complaints. it runs great,but its not noticibly more great to me than the previous one.
