I tried to use installed to get bootloader, however, it was stopped repeatedly when it pushes recovery image to my phone. Even I tried to run it again, it is still stopped by itself, I tried to install unrevoked program and driver again. It is still not working. I can't go to hboot menu even pressing power on and vol + / - keys...but it won't help...and my rom is not working...so now, l don't know how to do... please kindly help. Thanks.

One question:
I tried to use installed to get bootloader
What do you mean "use installed"? Did you use unrevoked (to root) or revolutionary (to flash hboot and recovery)?

What happens if you boot while pressing the back key? Does that get you to the fastboot screen?

I have to go offline now, but the more information you can give about exactly what you did and what the current status is the better chance that someone will have a solution.

I just hope you haven't lost the bootloader as I don't know how to fix that if so.

Thanks so much for your kind reply. I used unrevoked to root HTC desire but has the above thing happened. Now I can load the fastboot screen by your mentioned method. However, it keeps saying the files like PB99DIAG.ZIPPb99DIAG.nbh,PB99IMG.ZIP, can't load ...I read some posts about it but don't know how to get these files easily and put it in external sd card correctly. Really looking forward to having your professional suggestion about it. Thanks so much!!!

I cannot have bootloader working..In fastboot, it mentioned that the files PB99DIAG. ZIP cannot be loaded and my ROM is crashed also, so just want to know how to put the missing files in sd card. Sorry for keeping the message up as I don't know and it may caused by my replied done by Samsung android phone.

OK, let's take it piece by piece.

I think you are getting into the bootloader, because those messages you describe come up whenever you enter it. It looks just like the fastboot screen, except for different menu items and the label "HBOOT" rather than "FASTBOOT". And the key point is that, as SUroot says, you always get those messages. That is absolutely normal, and the problem with your ROM is nothing to do with those messages. So I think we can stop worrying about the bootloader altogether.

So, a couple more questions I'm afraid:

There should be a few lines of information about the phone before the word hboot - what do these say?

If you know, what software version was the phone running, any network branding, what nationality/region?

What is the problem with your ROM? What happens when you try to boot the phone?

What happens if you highlight the word "recovery" in the hboot menu and press the power button to select it?

The answers to these questions should tell us what model of Desire you have, what its original software version was, maybe give some clues as to what's wrong with your ROM and tell us whether you have a working recovery. Knowing those things will help us suggest a way of recovering the phone. Since you have fastboot access the phone should be recoverable one way or another - if it won't boot and you don't have a custom recovery we'll just have to identify the correct RUU for you to run.

Hi Hadron, after a long overnight , eventually it is fixed. By using your suggested method, power on with back button pressing down, it can go to fastboot but with no more choose... can't go to recovery...then I use the RRU to make the PB99DIAG.ZIP and load it by fastboot..after loading it still has error for mmc reading. Therefore do the fastboot again and keep pressing the vol- a few times, then can choose recovery....and then can install radio and rom to have the phone working again. Thanks for your suggestion and care so much. I am so happy to have my phone working...because this phone is my old one and my father wants to have it because HTC desire phone is really good , therefore I have to use the new sd card and do the rom installation again with app2sd. During the recovery image is pushing to the phone by unrevoked, it is interrupted by some other programs (I think) and unrevoked is hanged and windows forced it to stop....and it crashed the installation....and can't go to recovery again in hboot and just stay in the first of rom start. Now it is fixed and with fast sd card, my HTC desire seems working as fast as my new Samsung note. Thanks so much.

Without asking for help here, I will not know that HBOOT can be accessed by pressing power on with back button (because it was power on with vol - / +)...and it is very important for me to fixe the issue. That's why I have to say THANKS to HADON here again as his suggested methods and troubleshooting hint is really helpful.

SUroot: please note that there is really someone helping me here, but unfortunately it is not you. Thus, please don't stop someone to ask for help and complaint about someone solving issue with the suggested ways.
I am not doing whatever I want, it is the real solution that can solve the issue by using the suggested method and troublehooting hints. If I just do whatever I want, it won't solve the issue if it is not the correct way, right? Please be considerate when you say something...

Hi Daihung,

I feel I should explain a bit of background to clear up any misunderstanding.

SUroot has been the backbone of this forum, and has helped more people than most of us can count. But being new here what you won't have seen is that there have been many times when we've been advising someone and they've gone off and done something else, often making things much worse. I think that your jumping from not knowing those were normal bootloader messages to making a PB99DIAG from an RUU and flashing radios looked a bit like that. Of course you haven't had the frustration it's caused when people have jumped ahead and made avoidable mistakes, so it's not obvious to you why SUroot might be irritated.

The important thing is that it worked, for which I'm glad :)

Thats exactly it. You took a little part of Hadron's post and used it out of context. The problem is you didn't really know what you were doing (and it was not what we were going to advise you to do) and you really could have broken your device forever.

Fine, you didnt - you were lucky but as a warning to you, if you are receiving advice from us here, you should not take only snippets of that advice and mash it up with other advice as you will more than likely break your phone. Either follow the advice or dont ask for it.

We spend far too much time helping people who have done stupid things that they do not understand. You really should have followed all of Hadrons advice and answered his questions, which he painstakingly gave to you. You just took the first bit and then did whatever you wanted which luckily for you did not break your phone.. But easily could have!
