Weird gold leads AT&T Note

So inside the back panel of my AT&T version Note, I notice there are these two gold leads with corresponding connections inside the back of the door. Any idea what these are? I poked around the internet for a while and couldn't find anything.

I want to hold out hope that they're a precursor to induction charging back covers, but I'm sure that's almost nothing but wishful thinking. There's an induction charging mod that you can do to your phone, but my hands are not nearly that steady with a soldering iron, and I don't feel like voiding my warranty just yet.

Pretty curious about the antenna ports, too.

EDIT: After a good bit more poking around, I figured it out. The leads are for the NFC antenna stored in the battery door casing

This is indeed true. That is one thing to keep in mind when getting accessories that replace the back cover (extended batteries really).

Now, the disturbing trend that I am reading is that we're (AT&T customers) are pretty much going to get screwed when it comes to using this. AT&T wants to restrict the application of the NFC for their own use when it SHOULD be an open technology that can be utilized in any way the customer sees fit (Google Wallet for example).

I hope this is not the case, but it seems to.

Rooting is very reliable. Use the Da_G kernel in the XDA forums.
