The Dropbox app for Android is coming in the "next couple months"

Attention: If you don't have Dropbox and want to sign up, look down below or on the next page, and pick a random person to use their referral link to get 250MB extra storage for free.

All my referrals are maxed out, use someone else's link please (Scroll down or go to the next page and pick one):

Finally, I'll be able to sync my school stuff and other documents to my phone and read it whenever I need to.

Could someone explain exactly what this is/does?

It basically gives you the ability to store files on the internet in your account. You get a Dropbox folder on your computer that you can put files into and it will upload them to your dropbox account. You can also choose to put them in the "Shared/Public" folder which allows you to send the files to other people. The non-public files can be accessed from any computer/device that has internet.

Personally, I use it for school. My school folder is synced with Dropbox so when I go to the computer lab to print something out it's already there, so I don't need to use a thumb drive or anything. It makes things simpler.

(G),
Good description by raconteur. I have four computers, and, though I have a file server at home so 2 of them can share files that way, the other two are remote. If I'm at home, I can simply drop files I might need into the DropBox folder, then, when I get to work, I can simply retrieve them.
It's also a great way to do simple backups.

I can't wait to have it on my phone :) :)

I could see the usefulness between computers, but how would having this on a phone be beneficial?

you're in a hurry to leave to catch a bus/train/whatever and have a text document/audio file/video file/whatever you wanna check out on the bus/train/whatever
drop the file to dropbox on the comp and leave - the phone downloads the file while you're walking to the bus/train/whatever

or, you take a picture with your phone when out and about - just save it in your dropbox dir and it'll be on your computer waiting and/or shared to your friends to grab from the internet

yep... or, you want to transfer music to your phone, just drop it in the dropbox on the computer and it's accessible from the phone.

The phone is no longer a phone :)
