Sprint...Eclair?

What's the deal with the Sprint HTC Heros? I'm really anticipating this update. I still don't understand why it's taking so long when other devices already have this firmware update. It's pretty upsetting when other devices such as the Palm Pre have already had more then enough firmware updates already. lol COME ON. Do you guys feel the same? :mad:/:eek:

No. Really, No. Sprints Devices have been out for less than 6 months and have received MR updates already, along with 2.1 coming Within the month. Your being ridiculous.

I know it's coming out within the month but I would like to know why it's taking so long. I don't think I'm being ridiculous, anyways, what is an MR update? If you don't mind explaining. It must not be anything too drastic because my Sprint Hero is still running the same from when I first purchased it in November.

MR update means Maintenance Release. I will answer this in my FAQ shortly, as I am too tired to write it up right now. And why is it taking so long? And why is assuming it's taking so long being ridiculous?

Well do you really know how hard it is to program an OPERATING SYSTEM?!? It generally takes months, years even sometimes. People in general expect way too much these days, for way too little. They dont have to update your phone, it is a nice thing to do. And complaining you don't have the update is a bit like a childish tantrum to me. I'm sorry, but that's just the way I see it. Look around you, how many phones do you see that get complete OS overhauls within a handful of months? NONE. NONE NONE NONE NONE NONE.

And even a MR to alleviate some of the bigger concerns. That is just simply amazing, even by TOMARROWS STANDARDS.

iphone updates? Once a year. And they don't even add much.

Winmo? Took them 2 years and still waiting for winmo7. (but it may be worth the wait)

Blackberry really hasn't changed in the last 4 years.

So why are you complaining, when you are getting a massive upgrade for FREE. FREE FREE FREE FREE.

Sometimes, I just don't understand the audacity of some people.

What's annoying is that I'm sitting here with a phone that is 2 OS's behind other carriers that sold people cheaper phones and they are more up to date than mine. I was actually starting to get pumped about having Sprint and being able to go to 4G this year, but at this rate I really don't care if I keep Sprint because my phone is so far behind.

Actually I too believe that it's taking too long to release, even though they are on schedule. IOWA I believe your a moment user because I've seen you over at SDX and you should know that the Moment has it's share of big problems because of Android 1.5 OS not natively supporting CDMA among other things. Sprint doesn't recognize that it's still a buggy phone even after their CL14 release. If they want to be the best carrier then they need to beta test the shit out of their phones instead of having their customers pay to do it. I'm not saying they should release a faulty 2.1 before it's ready; I'm just saying that Sprint should make more solid update announcements and keep their customers informed about this crucial Android update that's going to make a world of difference to our phones. That's all:)
