Help USB preparing SD card canceling

Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum and I'm hoping someone can help me out. My BH2 is stock not hacked or anything and the first time I had it, I used the USB cable to transfer songs onto my SD card. Now when I tried it again, I connected the USB and it's in charging mode and I went into the notification menu to mount the SD card, it says preparing external SD card but then it stops and does not connect to my PC. Also the PC cannot detect any device connected to it. Any idea what is going on?

Thanks in advance!

I did that multiple times, even restarted my PC. Also unmounted and put back in SD card manually. Formatted card many times as well, tried to format on my PC but it said it couldn't completely format.

Have you tried formatting the card via the phone connected to the USB port in the PC or have you tried using the card adapter and plugging it in to the computer independently? This can make a big difference.

Something similar happened to me when I first got the BH2, and here is what I did:

1. Removed the SDCARD from the phone and connected it to the adapter it brings.
2. Plugged it in to the computer (using USB reader or internal SDREADER, very common these days)and tried to right click the drive and hit format.
3. Accept the quick format option *remember this will erase any existing data*
4. Power off the phone and reconnect the SDCARD
5. Power it back on and it should work.

Suggestions so this doesn't happen again: EJECT PROPERLY THE USB DEVICE BEFORE DISCONNECTING THE USB CABLE FROM THE PC. I have found that in many instances this problem will occur only when the SDCARD is ejected inappropriately thus containing some information inappropriately written to the card.

I just tried what you suggested and no luck. It's very odd it seems like it can't perform the "preparing external SD card" part.

**Edit** After I select "mount" at the top notification bar it says "Turn off USB Storage" then "Preparing external SD card" and then to "USB Connected" The reason why I think it is stopping at "preparing ..." is when it first tries to do that it plays the default melody and as soon as the melody finishes it plays it again and I think it is only suppose to play the melody once to indicate that it is connected.

Just got an 8gig Kingston SDHC card off amazon. I previously had the thing telling me the card needed to be reformatted. Seems to have solved the problem. Someone on another thread mentioned it had to be a class 4 card or better, mine is class 4 and works fine, so make sure you're not buying class 2 cards.
