okay so iv had my sprint hero from day 1 and till this day i CANNOT delete my texts from anyone. if i try, my phone just crashes. my phone is sooo slow and my gf is such a snoop on my phone and i want to delete my texts from other people !!!! i downloaded Delete Old Messages and i always try and delete stuff. ill do like 1 month old. it will try and delete them all, like around 3,000ish and i will leave the phone alone for like 4 hours and only around like 30 will be deleted. =(

Maybe you should start taking a little more care of your phone and not allowing mass texts to stack up to a point where it hinders your phones performance?

well i didn't think this would be a problem. then when i would want to delete texts when they weren't so stacked up i simply couldn't cause every time i tired my phone would just crash from trying.

its really making me so freaking mad. i cant ever take out my phone when im with people because i have so many texts that are private or i dont want my girl seeing.

i just ran the app again. its deleting 1 month old texts and i started it RIGHT when i posted this thread. so it started at 9:05 est time. its not 9:16est time and it says deleting 13578 texts and its at 0% and its deleted 28 texts so far.

delete fewer texts at a time. when i first used it i was deleting 8k + . the phone takes longer when there are so many to delete.

its not about taking care of your phone. its about expecting a phone can handle a simple operation like deleting text messages. and when the phone lags and freezes because it cant delete some texts, you are stuck with a non working phone. but are you going to stop texting? probably not. it becomes an endless cycle till you can find the way that actually works.

it casues sooo many problems. when i recive more than 1 text at a time, like if i would to get 4 text messages at once. it takes me about 15 minutes just to freaking go thru each one and clear the notification because it lags SOOO BADLY.

it really makes me a mad to a point where i just wanna get rid of my hero. =(

If you're seriously to the point of getting rid of your phone then do a hard reset. Write down your must have apps and make sure your contacts are saved as google contacts. I know it sucks to re-customize everything (I reset my phone for the MMS not downloading problem) but at least for you the hard reset would be a one time thing because your problem can be avoided next time (unlike my problem which keeps coming back, in which case I've decided hard resetting once a month is not worth it)

when i bought my phone from best buy the girl told me that she had someone come in with around 1000 texts and could not delete them. I guess its something with the phone that if it gets above 1000 you cannot delete them anymore so she warned me to periodically delete my texts which i do anyways cause i hate to see all those names stacked up in there especially if im not texting that person at the time. So just th ought id share that for anyone else who is in danger of getting way up in text messages
