Screen brightness app. Find one that works!

Finally found an app that lets you adjust brightness with one touch. It's called FastBright. Says its only for Cupcake, but works fine on 2.1.

A brightness control is already built into the 2.1 OS. It is under Android widget, titled power control.
I had to turn them sideways due the sites limit parameters being reversed (620 X 280) instead of the correct way of 280 X 620

If I remember right, none of the brightness control apps on the market worked with our Eris's on 1.5... I tried a few but after the initial change the brightness would come back up to the previous level. However, that is no longer the case with 2.1 - I am able to change the brightness (I use Quick Profiles) to anything I want and it finally stays that way. That alone has made me glad I upgraded to 2.1...

What does this do that the native one doesn't? I can put my screen dim, little brighter, and all the way is I think how it works.

Fastbright only gives you two choices that you can set. I have it set to 0% and 76%. I don't like running the screen at 100% brightness and the "little brighter" setting (looks like about 33%) is a little too dim for me.

Is there a way to set the native app to specific levels?

If you're referring to 1.5, then as far as I know no - none of the market apps will work correctly.

If you're running 2.1, you can use that native widget to toggle between "backlight off" and whatever level you specified in Settings. I personally have my brightness set to 50%. If you want various brightness profiles, check out any of the brightness apps or widgets on the Market - they should now function properly. As I mentioned, I use Quick Profiles and it lets me set the brightness to 0 (off) or to any 10% step.
