Credit where credit is due:
As with any open source stuff, some of this work is my own, most of it comes from other sources. So in addition to my own work (mostly in the "mean" category), here's a quick thanks to those of you who contributed knowingly (thank you) and not-so-knowingly via open source 5 finger discount (thank you just the same: your stuff is good and that's why I used it).
smile.gif
Sometimes it's not entirely obvious where the source started so if I missed someone, please let me know and I'll add you. Also, I'm careful to only include other work where the author does not specify any usage restrictions or has given approval. If you believe, however, that I've included something that shouldn't be in this ROM, please just PM me.

Thanks: JoelZ9614, aamikam

Installation instructions:
First, the usual disclaimers. I supply the ammo, you use it. ROMS don't kill phones, n00bs do.
biggrin.gif
Use this ROM at your own risk as I won't be responsible for bricks or any other untoward happenings. I spent a lot of time ensuring that the stuff in this ROM is fast, smooth, and compatible. But... it always helps to have some familiarity with flashing ROMs to keep yourself safe.

Before you Install, prepare:
  1. This ROM installs as the full 2.89 base except for the kernel: the default kernel is the 2.17 kernel so that it will boot for everyone
  2. Included 2.17 kernel will work for s-on (HTC unlocked) and any hboot from 1.4 up
  3. If you want 100% 2.89 base, the 2.89 kernel is included in the MeanROM-ICS folder on your SD card
  4. Do not flash the 2.89 kernel unless you've upgraded your hboot to 1.58 s-off or you will get boot loops!
  5. To upgrade to 1.58 hboot, see the OP in this thread and yes, if you're 1.4 s-off you'll stay s-off but with 1.58
  6. If you have any trouble at all, do a super wipe and then install the above firmware and this ROM
  7. Go to "Menu", "Settings", "Power" and UNcheck "Fast Boot". When you reboot or power off the phone, you really want it to reboot/power-off. This can save you a lot of headaches.

How to flash

If you're coming from a non 2.89 base ROM (2.17 or prior), a full wipe is recommended. A factory reset is typically enough, then just flash the ROM via your recovery.

Problems after you flash?:

PLEASE DO NOT REPORT PROBLEMS IN THIS THREAD UNTIL you've done a super-wipe and fresh install to see if that cures it. I know I should really just do like most devs and proclaim REQUIRES FULL WIPE/FRESH INSTALL on every version. That saves me a lot of headaches but I know what a PITA a fresh install can be even with MyBackup or Titanium at your disposal. So it never hurts to try just a flash without a full wipe, but if you run into any HINT of a problem... anything at all... don't report the problem in this thread until you've tried a super-wipe and fresh install first to see if that cures the problem!

Note regarding BOTH of the above options: don't flash tweaks or themes on top unless you KNOW the tweak/theme is compatible with the ICS framework (as of this writing, most are NOT compatible - ask the developer.

At first install (after superwipe, and 3 reboots (just to insure proper boot of system and apps)) Twitter, google maps, facebook, and superuser all claim to stop working but after opening them via market they start to work out of the app drawer. Google chrome also doesn't allow the keyboard to show, it appears as a new tab but if u tap on it letters pop up only on the keys u press. (Could just be a keyboard issue, ill try installing a new keyboard later to see if it fixes.

I've also reached a lot of roaming areas in places I usually have 2or3 bars sprint service. Other then that it is very responsive.

I would love to see you guys bring in new tweaks with this Rom.
I would love if we could bring the status bar to the bottom of the screen. Very big phone and very small hands so its hard to reach the top with out using just 1 hand.

awesome, all the roaming finally stopped, still have the apps not opening problem. i tried using superwipe and installing the rom via fastboot and still get the message saying they are not working after the phone boots. idk if its just me or if its because im doing something wrong on the flash
1. wipe (superwipe)
2. wipe dalvik and cache
3. made sure i superwiped
4. flash via twrp 2.1 touch recovery

i only flash 1 time and its only the Rom
this puzzles me because its never happened befor

also the google chrome problem is still going on but its fixed after a new keyboard is installed or if the set keyboard is turned off then back on.

still a great rom, battery life is amazing. took it off my charge at 1130 yesterday morning and still have 23%
hours of pandora, a few hours of games and a little facebook and its 32 hours later.
keep up the good work. donation will be coming this payday for you and your team.

I thought you sold your 3VO, I thought you went to a different phone.

What's up fellas? I was just browsing the 3D forums and saw some really nice activity. I want to try this ROM out and play with it but my PC is busted right now. Can I use Flash Image GUI to install the 4ext recovery then the ROM or should I just try my luck with TWRP?

I just used Flash Image GUI to install the ROM and all is well. I must say that the update is really nice (compared to the ROM I was running). I'm really jealous that I don't have an HTC device running ICS as my daily, but I still really like my RAZR and official ICS is just around the corner. Anyway, thanks for the help :)
