Root official gingerbread update soon.

When we activate any of these new phones (like the Evo) when does the price increase from 25 to 35 take effect? Will you have to pay 35 upon activation and begin a new month or will the 35 be charged on the next regular monthly billing cycle?

I believe the price immediately goes up to $35/month and your bill cycle starts the day you activate a post 5/1 phone. So if your billing cycle started a few days before you get your Evo V, I would wait until the end of that billing cycle before activating the Evo V, unless you wanna lose the minutes.

Sorry to say this guys but it looks like I won't have the Triumph long enough to see if it ever gets an update..... I just seen the Evo V 4G and I plan to get it when its comes out :) but I'll still stick around here on the Triumph forums even if I do upgrade ;)

NOOOO, we're gonna miss you Mobs :frown:

I'm on 25/ mo but want the new evo :(

I've considered the evo too but... when I think of paying $300 or $400 for a new phone plus an extra $10/month, that's an extra $420 minimum extra in the next year. I could maybe recoupe $100 from eBay after fees by selling the triumph...but...This is trading up to a 4.3 inch screen instead of a 4.1... a minimal upgrade really... the triumph has really become a nice phone thanks to the devs

If I was going to bail on the triumph, I'd bail on VM too. $35/month doesn't really steal the show like $25 does for an "OK" network. Also, the VM network is bearable only because of the $25 + nice phone (triumph) combo.

I'm sticking around to see what happens next. I hope for working GB or 4.0 with camera and hdmi, but am happy without it because the triumph is pretty cool as is and the price is right.

My wife got an htc wildfire s and htc dev will unlock the boot loader for you but it tells htc about it there for voiding your warranty. They are working on a workaround for that over at xda at least i know of one for the wildfire. They will probably find one for the one v.

Just an FYI unlocking the bootloader does not void the warranty if there is a hardware issue. if there is a software issue then it's on you, but if it's a definite hardware issue HTC will fix it.

Guys, guys, we already have a gingerbread update!

http://androidforums.com/triumph-al...-triumph-2-3-4-gingerbread-update-4-30-a.html

We need to all get behind that. It's thiiiiiiis close to being done. All it needs is 3G and SMS/MMS. It has working microHDMI. I thought that was just a myth perpetrated by all the FroYo ROMers! :D

Plus, I can guaran-effing-tee that it'll be (and likely already is) miles ahead of whatever half-assed excuse for an "update" Motorola throws out.
ppl sleepin' on this rom tbh.

I did that with my mom's Intercept I got here an upgrade to the Optimus Slider just paid the difference of $10 ;)

Interesting! Do you have to have bought it from best buy? (I did) and does it still need to be on warranty (mine isn't I think). I guess their trade in program is just really good. I might do that! I wonder how much they would take for my triumph it's still in good condition.

I even still have the box and original battery!

Its not the trade in program..... I'm talking about the geek squad 2 year protection you ask for a replacement but instead of the same phone you get a different one and pay the difference between the price you payed for the original (Triumph) and the new phone (Evo V 4G).... your pretty much getting store credit towards the other phone you pay whatever isn't covered ;)

Right the only other way (unlikely) would be to call VM and tell them you had so many replacements that you demand a new phone that being said they may not offer you the Evo V but it doesn't hurt to try or ask.......(most likely if VM did agree to give you a different phone it would probably be the Elite or the Slider)

PS - I'm gonna try to find one of those 10% discounts again :D maybe the post office still has 'em

Well today over a forums.motorola.com. Big_Al just gave us an update stated that the motorola triumph will never be receiving an update. He's been in direct contact with Ms. Eichenbergh (works for sprint) for the last 2-3 month on trying to get some answers for why no updates are coming to the triumph. and she said that she has gotten word directly from motorola that an update for this phone will not be issued. And you know what i believed this more than people saying where getting it.

Sadly picking up the Evo 4G when it's released on VM is not an option for me since I live in the middle of nowhere and there is no VM (Sprint) 4G coverage here.

Only T-Mobile has 4G coverage in my tiny town; AT&T, Sprint and Verizon all do not.

I have very spotty 4G coverage in my town from Sprint. I'm still wanting the phone though because it comes shipped with ICS and double the RAM (plus seems to be better phone all around) Although, it is debatable whether the extra $10 just for those extras will be worth it to me or not.. but I just can't resist getting the latest and greatest ;)
Plus, when travelling the 4G will be nice to have.

Plan on joining Mobster on the new device, gave my Moms $300 today just so I don't spend any from now till then. Thought about selling my Triumph but dont think I could do it. Will probably keep as an o'crap backup. I don't see how VM can justify launching an ICS phone with thier runner up still running Froyo. Don't get me wrong I'm sure they will but seriously they should update the Triumph either the week before or the day of the new phones launch.

Oh no doubt the phone itself will be awesome.

The MT for $25 is doing what I need it to do though. Getting a good deal is more important for me than having something newer.

That being said, if I lived in a place with VM 4G I would probably be all over it.

Yeah, I can definitely understand that. Good deals are hard to find these days and ocne you upgrade there's no going back to the $25/month. I don't think I will sell my Triumph though. I usually sell my previous phones but I'm thinking it would be cool to have around as a spare wifi tablet or to keep updating the ROMs for it. I just have come to appreciate and love all of the work that has been put into the Triumph that I will just have to see what comes next for it :) The Triumph has had an amazing team of developers constantly serving up great stuff! ;)

I want to say I got mine like June 18th. I'm surprised that so many people are talking about changing from this phone to upgrade when it hasn't been out that long.
