Help Micro SIM for Galaxy S3?

I was talking to someone last night who is of the opinion that the Galaxy S3 will have a Micro SIM (like the iPhone 4/4S) rather than a standard SIM.

Has anyone else heard this?

I know of people who swap their SIMs from one phone to another, because they don't want to take their highly expensive/valuable top-end phones on trips to "dubious" locations, swapping back on their return. Having a Micro SIM would make this action no longer possible.

This would be a killer for me! :afraid:

Yeah the GS3 uses a micro Sim. A bit annoying but I plan to just cut my Sim down to size and if I ever need to put it in another phone get a micro Sim to Sim adapter.

The only problem with that is when you put the micro sim into the micro-sim adapter and then insert it into your other phone how do you know the micro-sim adapter will fit?

I tried that with my Nokia. The micro-sim adapter got stuck in the slot and wouldn't come out! Had to take it to a Nokia Repair Centre to get it fixed, cost me money. Totally f*cked up the phone!

Not all micro-sim adapters will fit nicely into phones. I learned that the hard way and this is what has made me hate all this micro-sim nonsense! Be prepared for damage.

Well it was more a hypothetical if. I can't really see myself having to do it as I'm going to be using my GS3. And obviously I would check the adapter is compatible with the phone before I put it in

How would you check the adapter is compatible with the phone? How do you test for that? Micro-sim adapters are supposedly meant to be the same fit and size as a regular sim-card......

If you look in the specs of the adapter under compatibility it tells you which phones it will fit.

I bought one that said "for htc phones" and it worked on my HTC phone. Paid an extra buck for that extra bit of description.

If possible, could you give a link to any proper/professional sim-card adapters that are selling on Amazon or Ebay or something like that and would tell me the compatibility of what phones it will fit? That would be really helpful.

Hello,

After dropping my S2 down the loo and having no insurance, (I KNOW!). Luckly I was due for an upgrade anyway I have picked the S3 having loved my S2 so much.

I have asked the people at O2 if I needed a micro sim and they had said no? But I am confused because even on there website at the bottom of the page it tells you how to order the sim?

I am confused. Should I order one incase? Does anyone know if it will have any effect on my current sim?

Cheers

Agreed. I just told them that I bought a new phone that requires a MicroSIM.

They also work in the SGS2 until my SGS3 arrives :burnout:

Of course you can't revert back.

I work in a phone shop and samsung have started supplying sim adapters with the gs2 so theres a possibility they will supply them with the gs3 aswell.

A conversation I just had in chat with a T-Mobile rep:

info: Thank you for choosing T-Mobile. A representative will be with you shortly.

info: Welcome to T-Mobile online sales support, how may I help you with your purchase today?

Irene: I'm more than happy to assist you. Can I ask for your name please?

You: Hi Im Mike

Irene: Hello Mike.

You: Does T-Mobile use Micro Sim cards? I am thinking of getting an international GS3. Would my current sim work in it? The GS3 uses micro sim.

Irene: Thank you for waiting. I'll be with you in just a moment.

Irene: You need to get micro SIM card with a contract plan.

You: I have a $30 plan already. Is it a micro sim card I have?

Irene: We don't have micro SIM Card with the prepaid plan. If you need micro SIM Card you need to get a contract plan.
It doesn't make sense to me. Does anyone know if that is true? Why different size sims with with different plans? If I can't use my current sim then no I9300 for me.:(

I don't see why being on pre-paid vs contract would have anything to do with it. looks like they are just trying to make you take out another contract.

I ordered my sim from o2 for free, i didn't have to tell them anything about my current contract just provide my address, maybe t mobile have somewhere you can order one on there website like o2?

those online assistants are naff, i think they are all focused on sales rather than support.
