Root Motorola Triumph Brick Fix

sadly, it is not impossible to brick this phone. Maybe I'm just that talented.

Motorola Triumph
Running Minimal Triumph ROM + Update

Leading to bricking:
I root uninstalled the default mms.apk cause I started using Handcent. And like a moron I forgot to backup before I removed mms.apk. Removing the default mms.apk rendered my phone unable to send mms messages. So I tried to reinstall the mms.apk but I had to modify permissions to do so. That's where I screwed myself.

Phone went to reboot, never came back on.

Will not respond to being plugged in. (No LCD light indicator).
Will not respond to wall charger, or usb phone charger from pc.
I have a wall battery charger, so the batteries I have put into the phone are fully charged.
Tried removing the batteries overnight. Holding the power button 20 seconds, then putting the batteries back in. Still no response, and still not responding to being plugged in. Tried this a few times.
Will not boot into download mode, will not boot into recovery.

There is simply NO signs of life from this phone.

A friend said there was a software somewhere online that I could use to connect to PC to force boot it. However like I said, the phone does not even acknowledge being plugged in.

I installed Sut 3 just to see if my phone was detected. It wasn't. Although the diagnostic usb driver activated when I plugged in my phone.

Any hope? Or should I just bury it? lol

Also. If it's completely dead on this end. Will they be able to detect that it's rooted if I send it back? I can't revert to stock because the phone is simply not responding to ANYTHING.

Thank you very much. i will. They sending me a replacement tomorrow so I'm not too concerned about it. More concerned about them figuring out it was rooted.

With the lack of people posting about issues with rooted phone, I'd say you are in the clear as for that part.

Have you tried to leave the battery out for loke five minutes? It works for most electronics.

If you are getting a replacement, then don't worry about it. If it is in the shape you describe, then they won't know if it was rooted. They will either have a way to wipe it and reflash when it is dead, or they will just trash it.

I know others have returned devices that were rooted and VM didn't care.

On a side note, I don't think removing the mms.apk would do that on it's own, I think I remember doing the same myself at one point with no negative side effects. Maybe it was something completely unrelated to that which caused the issues.

Thank you for responding.. but no, removing the mms.apk didn't cause this. It was me messing with file/folder permissions to reinstall the mms.apk that killed it. And yes, it's completely bricked.

AH, gotcha. That could do it I guess. I wouldn't worry about them caring if it is rooted (if they could even tell with it in that state anyway).

Hi, sorry. I completely missed your post. But yes I did. I left it out for more than an hour a couple of times. There is just no signs of life from this phone anymore.

this phone is impossible to brick... :D trust me i would know! lol so your safe to root and flash roms as you'd like. just remember to keep a nandroid backup

also the most harm you can do to this phone is boot loop. which is easily fixable by reflashing a rom or restoring that nandroid backup that you should make as soon as you get clockwork mod recovery on your device

impossible to brix you say. Well currently have problem with my Motorola Triumph , it is turning on then it goes to the first boot screen where it shows the Motorola logo the big "M"

Please help i have skype that would make things alot easier

Sounds like you need to choose install zip from sdcard, cause the apply update option is for official updates.

Can you guys please help me also....My phone was recently flashed to android 2.3.7 using a tutorial from a youtube video by "itzgavin96". Everything was working fine. I booted my phone back into recovery mode to try to format a MicroSD card that was stuck in read only mode. While trying to mount the card and format it, i mistakenly formatted the "fat" system of the phone. Now all my phone does when i try to power it on is continually vibrate. When I connect a charger/cable, the red notification light stays lit and I have to pull the battery to stop the vibrating/or red light. Please help me!

P.s. My laptop does recognize my phone as an external hard drive but there is nothing inside of the "MOBILE" folder

how would I go about doin that?
If there is nothing in the mobile partition then you don't have recovery. Just search for "mobile partition" in the all things root area and you should find what you are looking for. Or, you can find all the info you need here, http://androidforums.com/triumph-al...l-things-root-guide-updated-06-24-2012-a.html

Hey everyone,

I also need help. I accidentally deleted the hole image folder in the MOBILE folder. Luckily, I saved a backup of the folder. However, upon replacing the folder and trying to install clockworkmod, my phone will not boot. It stays stuck on the boot screen. I can't get it to boot into clockworkmod. Any suggestions? I followed the all things root guide and still no luck. I did not know what a nandroid backup was until now so I have no nandroid backup.

Please help.

I've had my own issues. First, pull the battery. Then wait a while, maybe five minutes, so the internal charges can dissapate. Then enter download mode (volume down + power) I'm assuming you have seen what that looks like. Then put in your backup of the folder. If you have any more questions, let us know.

I fixed it. Thanks for your help ryder! I appreciate it.

For anyone who comes across this thread and their phone is bricked, I'll have a link posted below with the stock MOBILE image folder for you to use. It should fix any boot problems you may have. There is a zip file you can install from CWM Recovery, or an image file you can install yourself.

Cheers :]

can you maybe help me out? i forgot to unzip a CWM file and now my phone only vibrates when i try to turn it on

First, were you trying to install a (yada yada recovery).zip or install a recovery.img? Second, I have found that pulling the battery for like five minutes will allow me to enter recovery or download when I can't due to some issues.
