Help HTC One X wont play music through my car stereo

Hello everyone - I ve had my htc one x for a month and despite changing the handset twice and calling the htc helpline guys - my phone will not play music through my stereo in the car either via the usb or bluetooth - once it did play whikst i was on a bluetooth call which makes no sense - im so gutted as i love the phone but this is a huge error - can anyone help me? is there a solution? xx

I had a very similar issue, it would skip every other second. I even exchanged my phone and still had the issue. I found that if i start playing a song, then take a call or make a call and hang up it plays fine after that. I hope that it will be fixed in a future update, but for now its what i do.

Is that not a MAJOR flaw though?? Im confused that more people havent mentioned it? I was going to sell my iphone 4 but Im now having to keep it so I can use it as an ipod in my car - maybe its my stereo thats struggling but I have a top of the range Sony - Im gutted - such a lovely phone but not being able to use my music in the car? thats bad :0((((

Via USB, how are you connecting it? Is it mounting as USB Storage?

Problems like this are usually with the particular phone/car combination. I can confirm that the HTC One X works fine for streaming music via bluetooth to my car, so the problem is not the HOX in and of itself.

I find it to be a major flaw and it's annoying especially when other phones work fine in the same car. It would not be a deal breaker thou, i have a work around that works so it's usable. I think i had a similar issue with my Iphone 4 when it first came out but i'm not 100% sure as it works fine now and that was a year ago. I would think it would be fixed in a update at some point, but i already got the AT&T 1.82.502.3 update and it's still not fixed, so hopefully the next one fixes it. :dontknow:

Whats wrong with using a good old fashioned AUX cable to play music.

Less to go wrong and surely the quality must be better too than Bluetooth.

The biggest drawback for me is that I then can't control things through the car like play/pause, prev/next song, etc.. I like to minimize how much I have to fiddle with the phone itself while driving.

Me too. It works fine. The sound is much better than it was on my Inspire too. Not sure if that's s new version of bluetooth or the Beats Audio.

I can't even pair it to my stereo. Bluetooth won't find it mysteriously. If anybody has any suggestions, please let me know!

disclaimer: i don't have a bluetooth in car stereo hookup. just going to make some comments based on the fact that i have two different bluetooth headsets paired with my one x: the jawbone era and the phiaton ps20. (the phiaton enables call answering and not much else, but i got it mostly for listening to music. the jawbone works with enhanced caller id and sms and will announce callers and read sms texts, which is for when i'm running errands, etc., with the phone in its pouch.)

in order to get the ps20 to pair, i had to first unpair the jawbone. i did that and then did a soft reset of the phone (did not power down, just turned the phone off and back on). then i re-paired the jawbone.

i notice that when i turn on bluetooth, the phone shows that it is searching for both headsets if i have them both on and nearby. the jawbone has some additional instructions relating to pairing that i found on the website but haven't paid much attention to because my main interest has been trying to get voice dialing via bluetooth to work. (big fail there so far.)

given the apparent finicky nature of bluetooth (imo) at this point, pairing order could be an issue if you use more than one bluetooth connection. just a thought.

I agree, works fine streaming music to my car stereo via Bluetooth. However it didn't via same method on a courtesy car I had which was 2009 model . Some car stereo, particularly earlier models don't implement Bluetooth protocol fully, so may connect to synchronize phone contacts and work with car audio phone hands-free but not streaming music from one x to car audio.

I am afraid the problem lies with your car audio system. In some cases this can be fixed by an upgrade to the firmware of car audio system

It's working for me now as well. I can even stream Pandora through it as well as Navigation!

What was the trick to get it to work?
I have a 2012 Veloster and it plays fine as long as i have it at the main menu listing all the songs prior to connecting it. If i was listening to it before on a song it will only play that one over and over.
