***Official HTC Incredible Thread***

I think with the Incredible, it'll be a pretty good camera for a phone, but it's certainly not going to take the place of any camera I've got. The lens on the Incredible doesn't look too bad, but we don't know if it's glass, plastic, decent optical grade, or anything. It's something a lot of people overlook, and it's unfortunate.
I don't think were at the point where phones will be replacing cameras. I do hope that the Incredible will have a decent camera for when I don't have my P&S, however, do not expect it to be on the same level as my Sony.

Looks like someone didn't bother reading the past 3 pages;) (they are referrencing the same Chinese newspaper as everyone else). Highly unlikely, as HTC should be shipping to Google since the expected sales plan will be the same as the Tmo version.

Which lead some of us to drool at the fact that maybe the article was wrong on one end and HTC is shipping the Incredible, not the N1.

And that is your summary.

I thought that too. If everyone remembers a long time ago (in HTC phone news terms at least), there was much confusion about the then named Passion, which later became known as the N1. At that point, it seemed that it was a lock that we would be getting the Passion first, but then additional news surfaced that made it seem that it had GSM radios in it, leaving out Verizon. The unearthed photos from the unlockr didn't help clear the air at all. All in all, they were mostly right and wrong at the same time. Indeed, the Passion/N1 did have GSM radios, but that it was also to come out for Verizon.

Since both phones (the N1 and Inredible) are very close in specs, a similar confusion could be occurring here. We've been disappointed before with a release date that seemed oh so close. While I'd love to have it in my hot little hands this month, the cards just don't seem to be foretelling that scenario. However, since both HTC and Verizon are showcasing at CTIA, let's hope that we get a release date or at least some hands on time with it at the show.

I've been waiting so long for this phone that I'm easily going to wait some more, as I would be very upset if I took the plunge on a Droid and after the 30 day return period was up the Incredible came out. My LG Dare will have to live out another month.

Created an account solely because I've been lurking these threads the past few days. I have to get a new phone by april 1st at the latest and had been waiting on the nexus and crossing my fingers for the march 23 release. Then the more I started reading up on the nexus, I started hearing about random screen breakage, touchscreen issues (regular and multitouch), and some other things. Then I stumbled across this thread and you have all sold me on the the Incredible. The only feature that it doesn't have that I really want is the noise canceling microphone (I'm pretty sure it does use google maps like the nexus/droid for gps). What if it is the nexus and not the Incredible at the vegas show that is launched? I will be completely torn, I just wish vzw would keep us in the loop at least on near by launch dates, if not specs as well. It's starting to really bother me that all the info I have on the incredible is rumor, hearsay, and conjecture.

I don't think they would re-launch the Nexus One, when its already been launched. That would make no sense, when a press report or media announcement would suffice. I don't think either VZW nor Google are going to blow this out of proportions when there is no need to. I can see CTIA bringing a launch to the Incredible though.

VZW doesn't "keep you in the loop" with launch dates and specs because it has no reason to. Never have, and never will. Its called having a leg-up on your competition when they have no clue what and when you'll be releasing next.

I would have to agree. Sure they announce when the N1 is available for Verizon. But its not going to be huge news barring a N1+ device. The Incredible would make a bigger splash and hence bigger announcement.
Another reason not to make public launch dates is if no one knows the luanchdate then nothing is ever delayed.

Not to disagree with you, but do you think they really caught anyone by surprise when they released the Droid? I know they announced it two days before it went on sale, but did they really catch the competition and those here off-guard? Surely there had to be some inkling somewhere that this was being worked on and tested, same as we are witnessing with the Incredible.

It's no secret that the phone exists, but in what final form and when it will be released is the $64k question.

This is what I was referring to. Also I didn't mean 'launch' for the nexus one, obviously it's already launched. I meant officially released for verizon. Which, I think, would be a significant announcement. I am however holding out hope for the incredible.

I'm not talking about leaks. I'm talking about official announcements. Do you think that VZW was trying to leak out pictures of the Incredible? Don't think so. Obviously they have no control over that, but that is not something that is part of their sales plan. They release a high end device while trying to conceal most of the important specs and a general release frame so that competitors don't go to manufacturers asking for even better specs (realize this stage takes some time, so if "leaked" early enough, they can very well try to outdo them with a similar release date). Its simple economics. Then after they DO get their fair share of business, innovation takes over, and the next big phone comes out. Obviously with the Incredible, someone breached their confidentiality contract, however for the benefit of us (who, in reality, are not the majority of the public - who are still unaware of the phone).

I don't think he was talking about the Nexus one. He was quoting as to why you think its OK for Verizon to "keep you in the loop" - which in this business world is not very smart for the business; unless however, you are coming out with something revolutionary, that you KNOW none of your competitors can out-do.

This is a quote from the comment section at phonearena about the Chinese shipments today...looks promising for at least the N1....

"
Broken Imaege... I'm glad you feel that those images are false because it makes your job easier when talking to customers. However they are legit in the system. E-guide as you say only shows you published information. Meaning that when our (yes our) internet team gets the green light it makes it visible to everyone. They've been building quite a few pages in e-guide lately as well. A new samsung device coming out that is basically a cross between the body of a omnia 2 but a rogue feel. They're also building quite a few "Cpo" pages for phones we already have but the soon to be used "certified devices" in case of no insurance etc...
The Nexus One page is in e-guide near the later ranges of their numbering system. I've been with vzw for over 5 years and I'm seeing a very strong trend in the past two years of trying to hide more and more of our data including our inventory sales reports. Expect e-guide to claim this as a new device within this week, assuming timing goes off as it should (but we all know that vzw never keeps a time frame). What most companies (except HTC) fails to understand is that leaked information is cheaper advertisement than actual ads. "
