Screen protectors?

My Spectrum has the stock screen protector that came with it. It gunks up with finger prints way too easily. I end up cleaning it several times a day. Do ANY other brands actually prevent the smudge build ups? I know many claim this, but do they actually work?

How about going naked? I never used a screen protector in the two years I had my AMOLED DROID Incredible. Its screen is still perfect. The glass on the Spectrum is even better. I took the stock screen protector off after a few weeks when its corners started curling up. The phone feels so much better now, and the screen cleans up with just a few strokes on my shoulder.

I'm with you on this one. I started out just using the stock protector, but yes, it accumulated grease and fingerprints way too easily. Since the Spectrum uses Gorilla Glass, I figured I'd give it a try without the use of a screen protector. So far, so good, and it is so easy to wipe off.

On a marginally related note, I use the pattern lock for security. The one thing I don't like is that you can see the finger print path my finger takes to unlock the device. I guess there's something to be said about having prints all over the screen!

I went and got ghost armor and like it, for the most part. It never shows grease or smears (because it's rubberized) but it reduces the quality of the hd screen. Worth it, imo.

I hate those fuzzy screen protectors. I just wipe the screen off with my shirt if it gets to bad :p

I use the protectors you buy in the verizon store and they work great. They are made from very tough and hard plastic so you don't need to change them because they get scratched up. I've had the same protector on since I bought my spectrum which was 6 weeks ago and it still looks nice.

I haven't tried it without a screen protector because I would really hate it if I ended up scratching my screen.

IMUcarmen, best way to clean the screen; with the shirt! :D That's what I do too!

I ripped out the protector the phone came with. Honestly, that feels more like a standard shipping protector than a true screen protector. It was horrible! I though the phone was a lemon until I took that out because it was affecting the touch sensibility. I am "naked" now. The Spectrum has Gorilla Glass, so it should be scratch resistant. I used a screen protector on my Droid X, but did not like it. After almost two years, my Droid X's screen is still perfect. I expect the Spectrum to be the same way, even more so with the Gorilla Glass.

You can get protectors from ebay for $1 or so. They are very cheap and work well. My son has one on his HTC Rezound. They are also reusable, meaning you can remove, clean with water and soap, and put them right back.

I, however, prefer nothing on the glass.

Yeah Juny, I agree. I finally pulled off the stock screen protector only to discover that it's like the really thin flimsy things you find stuck to electronic screen when shipped from the factory. It was not a stiff, protective cover. And it was VERY prohibitive from allowing proper touch screen sensitivity. I can't believe I left that thing on there for over a month! I did buy a 2-pack of iPad screen protectors off a clearance shelf today. They are much thicker, and I can cut at least 8 Spectrums sized protectors from the two sheets if I decide to use one. I just traced the stock shape out onto the plastic and cut them out.

I am rough with my phones so I require some type of protection. They get knocked, dropped, ect. On my last phone I had a screen protector save my screen from my keys when I was helping unload a few 55gal drums from a pick-up. I stuffed my phone in my pocket hastily then grabbed onto the drum. Once it was over I pulled my phone out and it developed a large gash over the plastic. I peeled it off and the screen was perfect.

Fastforward to recently and a similar incident happened but no protector. :( Phone is sporting a nice 1/4 gall from a key.

moral: Screen protectors work.

Yea I feel better with a screen protector. I just hate when I can't get one on with no bubbles. One little bubble drives me crazy!

I wouldn't recommend anyone going with the cheaper protectors though because they scuff and scratch so easy. Spend a little extra and get the better quality ones because you can use them for months and they will still look close to perfect.
