Physical Keyboard Options

I was the dork who waited outside for a G1. I love the G1. It's modded with some whizbang features and I get lots of use from it. However, the speed leaves something to be desired. When going to apps2sd it improved it quite a bit, but is still lacking.

I have looked at the line-up of phones some more, but without a physical keyboard, I won't change.

I've been looking for a replacement for the G1. The only thing that comes close seems to be the Droid, but it doesn't have a 5 row keyboard, as well as the buttons aren't spaced and the configuration is not up to par (what's with that tiny enter key!). I have a feeling this would create more frustration than good.

I understand that physical keyboards make the device less pleasing to the eye, but I care more about functionality than looks.

Anyone know any Good up coming devices that feature a physical keyboard? I've rummaged through the main site here and see all standard touch screens. I thought a while back I saw that the Legend was having a mirror of itself with a hardware keyboard. However, I also fear that device would be too slow. Not having Android 2+ seems to be crapola for wanting Flash, but that's another point entirely (since day 1, all G1 owners have been promised flash, it's been touted in our faces and I read now its not gonna happen).

I feel you on this issue. I have a G1, and love it because of the physical keyboard. I've looked into the Moto Cliq, and realized that it's crap.

I also looked into the Droid, but I have Tmobile, and I don't feel like switching to Verizon.

Honestly I think I'm just going to end up rooting my G1. It seems that that is the only way to keep the great functionality of the G1's physical keyboard, and getting updated version of Android OS.
