The One X and EVO LTE will remain as HTC's flagship products in the United States, expecting to account for 60 percent of HTC's total shipments in the U.S. market during the second quarter, he added.

Wow!

On April 24, HTC forecast that its revenue will reach NT$105 billion (US$3.56 billion) in the second quarter of this year, up 55 percent from a disappointing first quarter.

Seriously, wow!

So I wonder if this is true? I pray it is cause I miss not having a smart phone. This old Katana just doesn't do it for me anymore.

We've heard some positive news from HTC's U.S. Distributors. Consumer electronics chain Best Buy Co. Is going to sell the EVO LTE on May 23, while mobile provider Sprint Nextel Corp. Will sell the model on May 25," he told CNA by telephone.

I really doubt that Sprint would allow Best Buy to sell the EVO before they are available in their own stores.

its possible Wednesday could be national launch day and sprint will get the go ahead to ship pre orders tonight after business close. this would get pre order customers to get theirs by Tuesday and still allow those folks to be among the first to get the device. then Wednesday the rest of the cats can get theirs at the stores...

possible still...

It comes to mind that Sprint and HTC are lucky that the likes of ISN are out there disseminating information. They're biggest ally are the techno-geeks who ordered the phones as early adopters and wanting the latest and greatest. I say that because a trait of techno-geeks is the need for information, and lots of it. We're fascinated with process and procedures. So to be able to be kept in the loop of the details of the situation is akin to a warm, comfy blanket. In this situation, Sprint and HTC could have let us know of meetings and their outcomes, the general details of what the hold up is, and what their analysis of the situation are.

Even if it ends up that all the phones get shipped back to Taiwan, the communication would instill an atmosphere of goodwill and inclusion. It's too bad that their philosophy is to give minimal info, and only info that is concrete, which is "we know nothing."

They need to remember, it's the geeks who are always asked, and who suggest what those who are less technically inclined should buy. So treat us nice.

Ok, off my soap box.

While, in theory I agree, I get why they probably didn't. I mean, thinking back to all those times companies have put out information without knowing the cold hard facts. When it turns out to not be true, consumers like us rail against them, just like in this instance. People have been saying that Sprint took pre-orders knowing the phones would be held up, despite there being no evidence of that.

Also, I get that as a business decision, it makes sense. I mean, say it DID take three weeks, like originally thought (and might still be). If they openly announced that, quite a few people may have cancelled their pre-orders. Not saying it's right, but that's what most businesses will decide, so as to mitigate the cancellations.

Hmmm.... but we already know that Verizon is getting the HTC Incredible (2? whatever it is) which is Verizon's HTC "flagship" (although within the HTC lineup the Incredible is an odd duck with a smaller screen, same S4 SoC, and no ImageSense ISP).

i paid with a debit card and the money was taken out instantly.

ive been pretty patient so far with this delay so far, but if they dont give news soon i will lose my cool.

sprint chat lady said they still have no idea when they will ship the phones and that they are just waiting for htc and customs to settle this.

so if this is all htc then they need to give some updates. they have to know something. im sure customs gave them a time frame, does this need to be settled more in court? how long it takes to prove apple wrong? my point is, they have to know a timeline whether its days, weeks, or months and its starting to become bs they wont come out and say it.

its like buying any other product and the store tells you we have no idea when you will get your stuff. you will get it, but no idea when. anyone would be pissed.

Actually, I believe that that's exactly what's going to happen.

Anyone thinking no phones any time soon. No info sucks.

Not thinking that, and remember, it's like this every release - every time we think all of the info has dried up - it ships! ;)

Pumpkin: Which one is it?
EarlyMon: It's the one that says Bad Mother

Before I get deluged, novox77 is a mod on sabatical (as far as we're concerned) and that language filter thing was to add comedy within comedy. ;) :D

Plus, yeah... you know, like Shaft (shut your mouth!) (just talking about Shaft)

Actually, we could play mafia! Mafiamaniac .net
I could design and host an Android vs Apple themed game (setting up winmo and/or RIM as independent factions). I could also probably get the Admin to bump it up the queue if anyone is interested.

Actually, that would probably make a great forum game - start it and give it a go -

Forum Games - Android Forums

PS - I want to thank everyone who helped me get to 20k thanks and set a new forum record. :)

I think you've nailed your assessment of techno-geeks, but I disagree with the conclusion.

Customers, whether rightfully or not, WILL hold Sprint to it's official line. Already in this thread there is evidence of people wanting Sprint to pony up something because they missed the original launch date, or for perceived "promises" (there were people that were originally upset that someone ordering from Sprint may receive their product after the launch day because of how shipping worked out). I'm going to say it -- customers can be selfish and irrational, and they don't give a crap about the company.

This is probably the most ideal situation for Sprint. This way, they can be careful and deliberate about the official company policy, but at the same time, they have an unofficial "insider" source feeding us the information we desperate crave. If anything goes wrong, then Sprint can disavow the insider as not being a Sprint official or the mouthpiece of Sprint policy.

It's kinda the best of both worlds for Sprint.

Hard to call the Incredible 4G a flagship in light of the Rezound, S4 vs. S3 processor notwithstanding. The Rezound is a tough act to follow. We'll see though. The DInc 4G is definitely an odd duck, that's for dang sure.

I think Verizon went with the DInc 4G just to say they did, they're so heavily subscribed into Moto phones right now, it's not even funny.

so if this is all htc then they need to give some updates. they have to know something.

HTC can't say anything now - the carriers control releases to the public, and everything in the supply chain is protected by NDA. Statements on their home turf directed at their financial community and affected workforce is about all they can talk about.

im sure customs gave them a time frame, does this need to be settled more in court?

HTC insisted last week that the courts get involved and move customs along. It's why we're as far along as we are, so far as I know.

how long it takes to prove apple wrong? my point is, they have to know a timeline whether its days, weeks, or months and its starting to become bs they wont come out and say it.

They don't know a timeline at all in any way, customs doesn't work that way - hence the push to escalate this and get some faster action.

I get you're pissed, and you're certainly not alone.

Don't blame HTC, they're bound by NDA, don't blame Customs, they're a Federal agency and don't disclose their dealings (same guys catching bombs and druggies, ok, 'nuff said), and don't blame Sprint - they can't take a hit on missing the delivery again (shareholders, angry customers) especially when they're only in the food chain so far -

HTC -> Customs -> Sprint

If Customs can't talk, Sprint won't talk (officially).

Blame Apple - they started this nonsense. ;)

Another update (Hope no one minds these, I realize some don't have Twitter accounts so I thought I would post updates).
I don't do the twitter thing, so I'm personally thankful for the twitter updates. At least it's actual new news instead of PCWorld regurgitating what has been reported in the past few days from Taipei Times.

Saw that. I'm guessing they're really worried about CSRs committing to a date or something or leaking information.

In reply to a comment on his blog at the end of last week, the Sprint Insider mentioned that while he was having a sandwich, people started talking about him/her and none too happy with the leak - and that thanks to the circumstances, s/he was able to not have their reaction noticed. Definitely butt on the line there.
