New to this Forum Just got the Samsung Moment

Just came from the Samsung Instinct to the Palm Pre and now the Samsung Moment. So far I like the Moment better than the Palm. It just seems more user friendly to me. I like the Palm better because of the smaller size/weight so I guess I have to make a decision.

I have a question about tethering on the Moment. It seems like the Palm Pre is easier to tether. I did a search for tethering on the Moment and it seems to be a problem for some people. PDANet seems to work for some people and I dont mind paying if I can be reasonably sure it will work.

I notice another tether on the marketplace called Easy Tether Lite. Has anyone tried this one? Im just wondering how it would work with the Moment.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Have not tried the other app. PDANet works well. Try the free version, it blocks secure sites, but you can decide to buy if it works for you.

i use pdanet 2.41. which i find more stable with stock firmware (cj05). i haven't used easy tether lite but i hear its similar to pdanet on how it operates. pdanet is $23 ($18 limited time) for full version and easy tether lite is $9 for full version. both are trial versions that limit https connections after 30 days. there's also azilink but takes a little more tinkering to install and configure. i would suggest you try both easy tether lite or pdanet. make sure usb debugging is checked under settings > application > development before you try connecting.

simple. you can remove apps through settings > aplications > manage applications or through the market > my downloads.

Will it be easier to tether once the 2.1 Update gets released?

Another question off the subject.......can I use my Palm Pre charger on the Samsung Moment? It has the same connection.

I believe the Pre and the Moment charge at the same output amps (I have both and I think that was the first thing I checked). So, yes you can. The problem will be that the big plug on the Pre charger will likely get in the way of the slider. You might be able to shave it down a bit. I did that with the micro usb to usb that I bought at Office Depot.

Yes I was using it today and it seems fine. The plug seems to clear the slider alright without rubbing on it. The nice thing about the Palm cable is that I can also use it to connect to my computer.
