If anyone is curious, FoxFi does work on this phone in wifi mode. You'll have to go to the developer's site to download the apk, and allow for installation by unknown sources, located in the security section of the settings. The one weird thing is that although I changed the name and added a password to my tether, it still shows up as unlocked with the original SSID of Android AP.

While, I like the eye candy of transitions of one screen to the next. I think this detracts from the snappyness potential of LTEVO. I am sure you can prolly turn it off like OG EVO, but have not found it yet That said, from any angle you look at LTEVO, it screams top shelf. HTC really put some work into this bad boy

I am still going thru the setting up process, adding apps, changing settings but so far I really like the phone. I am coming from the iPhone 4S and its been a while since I had an Android phone but some of its coming back to me pretty quick.

I hate to bring this up but seems some others have and I have the iPhone 4S and now the EVO LTE and can look at the same apps side by side. I don't know how to describe it exactly but if you look at the same app on both side by side they look different. Maybe its the way they were programmed and nothing to do with the displays but from what I see, I give the EVO size, more vivid, colorful and bright but have to give a slight detail edge to the iPhone.

FWIW, I am planning to turn off my iPhone once I get the EVO all setup so I think that should tell you what I prefer overall.

Open the camera app, press the 'A' at the bottom left, and slowmo will be the top option.

Amazing phone! Best yet. I've had 4 different android phones and this is far and away the fastest yet. Best screen res, can't even say how happy I am that they added the ability of voice and internet usage at the same time! Been playing with my phone after charging fully, since about 230 or so this morning. Still have approximately 45% battery life (very heavy use) camera, text, over 2 hours of voice calls, and still going strong. I just turned off my LTE after I read a previous post (thanks for that btw) ALL call clarity seems much improved, does seem to dislike my LG stereo Bluetooth though (strange echo).
Really can't say enough good things about it though. I haven't ever rooted my phones before, but think I will on this one. Like several others, I'm really missing my settings and search buttons . But overall, I'm extremely happy

Update: I setup the google wallet (got $10 on prepaid google card for setting up) and bought lunch through the NFC. I'm new to near field, but its also a great addition to an awesome array of features to an amazing new device!

It does. If you press and hold the physical camera button it will launch the camera app.

Love this phone so far, but

1) What is the deal with AutoRotate? Turn it off and the phone automatically goes into landscape mode?! (EDIT: Hmm, now it's not having that problem, but no longer auto rotating... )

2) Placement of the settings icon in the swipe down notifications menu... POOR. They put it at the corner where "Clear" really should be (from a UI perspective, what you use the most should be easily accessible at the edge, not to mention it's where the Clear button is on the prior Evo 3D, come on HTC)

I have spent all morning trying to get a shortcut to voice search. The closest I have come is the 4x1 general search widget with a microphone icon. Please someone help, please tell me that direct voice search has not been removed!

Oh, I see what you're saying. I thought maybe you were just quick pressing the button and not getting the camera to launch. Personally, I prefer the external buttons NOT wake up the device because in the past when I've had them one of them gets bumped eventually in a pocket w/o you noticing and then when you finally notice 30% of your battery has already drained for no reason. On a phone that doesn't allow me to carry spare charged batteries to swap out I would be especially worried about this. I prefer having to unlock the screen before being able to launch any apps or adjust any settings.

I hear you. Would be nice to have option ... but ya if you set , lets say, press and hold 2 secs to unlock phone and go into camera app, then you could have just turned on the screen, drag camera down and whalla.

Yeah, takes just as much time either way and the unlock, drag camera option is substantially safer against accidental unlock.

I really need an answer to this. A lack of voice search shortcut is a dealbreaker. I will be returning this device to Sprint if this can't be resolved (but I will buy the LTEvo again if there's an update to fix it in the future).

So far, I'm very impressed by the speed of the device. Running a speedtest on my OG Evo (over wi-fi) provides me with approx 5.2Mb/s down and 90ms ping. The same test on my EVO LTE gives me a little over 10Mb/s down and 70ms ping. This is using an ASUS RT-N56U router on a 50MB/s connection, so the phones' wireless cards are definitely the bottlenecks here.

The menus are nice and fluid. Apps start quickly. I do miss the "menu" button at the bottom of the phone, but I suspect I'll get used to the on-screen one.

The screen is gorgeous. The battery seems to be _great_ (I have LTE turned off, as it's not available here yet). With moderately heavy use (installing apps, movie data, activating, calling people, watching videos, and litttttle bit of idle time), I've used it for 3.5 hours and I still have 78% remaining. My Evo would be much closer to dying at this point.

I like the kickstand, but I have trouble engaging it-- my fault for biting my nails, I suppose.

The camera looks great, but I can't get good lighting here to really test it out well yet.

They've definitely improved Sense-- the widgets are more varied, everything has a bit more polish to it.

I feel like it's a complete and utter iPhone killer, but unfortunately it won't get the sort of marketing $$$ behind it that the iPhone has.

I just saw your post make sure under your wifi options click the menu then advanced setting and choose "Best Wifi Performance" it will definitively improve your speeds. At least it does for me 30MB/s connection.

Recommend to format the card in your new device.

Yes, I had transferred 50GB of music to a 64 GB card before I got the phone, and it said the card was damaged and reformatted it. Then it worked, but it takes many hours to retransfer this much data.

First let me say I love this phone!

What I want to point out/ask is about the audio. Music is what I use more then anything else so it's super important to me. I started first listing to Spotify on the new phone and it sounds great, but then I listened to the same album srteaming from my Google Music and WOW it just sounds super. I have my spotify set to "extreme quality", my google files are all 320. has anybody else noticed how much better this thing sounds! So Happy!

My front facing camera appears to have a red hue oversaturation. It makes my face look like I have a terrible rash/rosacea (get the salve!). (in fluorescent light environment)

Also I kinda miss the camera interface shortcut that flipped the viewfinder from rear camera to front camera. I guess it is only 2 taps away in the menu, will take some adjustment though.

Thanks Sprint/HTC for allowing the shutter sound to be off in vibrate/silent mode! I wish it was an option in the camera menu like on the One X, but silent mode works ok. I can finally clear that 6 Month old support ticket with HTC.

P.S. Why doesn't a screen/phone manufacturer just install a screen protector for us straight from the factory? They went through all the trouble of putting that exactly fitting piece of plastic on the screen for us, get rid of the wording and make it high quality and transparent and save everyone some trouble. Those that don't want it on can scotch tape it and pull it right off.

So I've been using "go launcher" for as long as I can remember. Is there a way to turn LTE on/off like on the original EVO? Or is it auto on/off when in the area?

Other than that, I'm loving the phone!

I removed the 32GB SD card from my old Evo 4G and put it into my new 4G LTE, intending to re-format the card. Before I could do so, however, Android apparently moved the entire contents of the SD card into a new directory on the card named "ext_sd" and created any new top-level directories on the card that it needed to. What's cool/interesting is that the various Android apps can still see the old picture and music files on the SD card as if they were in their original directories, even though they are now sub-directories of the ext_sd directory.

So after using it for the day i have my first impressions of it.

Screen: Great picture quality, easily one of the best screens ive seen on anything. Auto brightness is very, very quick to respond and adjusts perfectly. In direct sunlight it is easily readable and doesnt loose quality. Compared to a few friends iphone screens it is way ahead and not just in size.

Speed: It is extremely speedy and will quickly respond to anything i tell it to do. Loads the full cnet page on a slow wifi connection in 4 seconds. Havent noticed any stutter yet at all.

Camera: Really a nice shooter. If you take quick pictures it looses quality but if you take pictures slowly and plan it out the pictures come out nice and clear. I wish the video would record at a higher framerate though

Software: Ok so sense is really a lot more toned down that prior builds but i still see a lot of htc in the device. Sometimes i can see paths that should take far less steps than it should. Hate the stock keyboard so i downloaded swiftkey to replace it. Stock music player is also too complicated and flashy so poweramp is a better choice. Lockscreen is very nice and overall i prefer sense to stock ice cream sandwich

Hardware: Man this thing is a beast. It is build so solid and is one of the best put together handsets ive ever seen. The aluminum feels nice in the palm and the kickstand is incredibly strong. Camera button does not turn on the camera from standby but this can be fixed in later software. Also the back battery cover is hard to remove and hard to put back on.

Overall i love it. Battery life lasted me from 6 am to 130 pm and i had plentiful battery left over. I hope some software bugs are fixed in the future but it was a great experience

*note: The prl must be updated to be able to send text messages using the sprint airwave tower.

Setting this to CDMA only slows down my 3G. Speed test with it set to LTE/CDMA is at 1.45Mbps. With it on CDMA only - .22Mbps.

Back cover: there is a little notch behind the power button to pry it off. 2 little pegs on the bottom that need to go in first when replacing. Once I figured that out it pops on and off pretty easy.
Light moderate use at work and 8 hours off the charger, still at 81% battery.
