Help Media Link HD - Questions and Troubleshooting

Today I connected the media link and the One X without my WiFi home network.
Link and phone can be connected directly via WiFi.

I had the impressions that the direct WiFi connection had a better quality than the WiFi connection by home network.

So, I think my home network isn't the best ;)

Well, with Media Link HD connected in the standard way to the One X (by home network via WiFi) I had a few disconnects between Media Link and phone, and I had some lag between the screens of TV's and phone's.

So, I tried the direct connection by WiFi between Media Link and One X.
To simulate a hotel room without WiFi ;) I shut off my home network, did the Media Link reset and let it re-configurate.
The Media Link became a WiFi hotspot and connected with phone.

With this direct connection I hadn't any disconnections and I there was less lag between the screens :)

Now after a few changes and resets I can't connect to the Media Link anymore. I completely reset the Media Link and started from scratch and the Media Link pulls and IP from my router but my phone will never connect. Worth noting that every time I initialize the setup both screens have the configuring screen and almost finish but them the media link screen goes back to the 3 finger screen and my phone says unable to connect. Also during setup it continually drops my WiFi connection on my phone and re connects.

change your channel on the router. are you on 2.4 or 5ghz?

reboot the router.

reset the media link again.

Interestingly I switched my phone to 2.4ghz SSID ran through the setup and it connected. However my Media Link has my Evo listed as the SSID and on odd IP Address. Still it worked. Then for giggles I connected my phone to the 5ghz SSID and then swiped up and low and behold it connected to the media link and everything seems to work. Still have the odd IP but streaming video seems to work better. It's as if my phone is acting as a bridge between the media link and my router (Media Link is not pulling an IP from my router).

I'm out of town atm and have not played with my media link hd yet. Question I have, maybe someone already experienced this? If you go the adhoc route (direct connect) does this disable 3G data connection? I was hoping Media Link HD would still be able to use 3G and connect to HDTV. Thanks.

No unfortunately it uses the WiFi radio which disables the 3g. I tried it just to see and couldn't stream anything.

Worth noting that the HTC Watch streaming works flawlessly. Go figure that HTC makes sure that doesn't stutter and stall.

Most likely superior buffering because they have faith in their DRM, while everyone else makes sure that they have their knickers in a twist over it.

I just picked my HTC media link from my local sprint store and this little gadget is awesome. The playback res from watching YouTube video, and recorded videos and pictures are amazing. It took no longer then 3 minutes to get it up and running. It also comes with a USB charge cable that's literally twice as long as the charge cable that comes with the ltevo, so Iam now using the long cable for charging and short to power the media link, you also won't have all the excessive wire behind your big screen. My only question is, how do you multitask? everytime I start a video and back out my tv follows my every move. With this media link your supposed to beable to watch videos while checking your facebook and so on.

In the video above, in post # 4, the gent starts a video and while it is playing hits the home key to get out into the menus while the video is still playing. (note: he is using a One X)
