Did nothing. Samsung Geo, just sitting there on my desk as normal, used less than an hour ago, go to use it and POOF not a single icon in sight. I can force Google open by a long hold on the edit key, text etc is working as normal. When I click on the app button I just get the spinning loading doo-hickey in the centre of a black screen, never gets to the apps. Any ideas?

Well the first thing I can think of is a reboot, if that doesn't fix it, take out the battery for a couple of seconds, maybe a minute, quick question, are all your apps still in the menu? You could try making a backup and restoring it see if that helps, also is your phone rooted?

I assume they are still there because I can force Google to open. But I can't get to them. I have no idea what rooted means. And to be perfectly honest I don't know how to reboot it either. It's done it to itself randomly a few times......but not recently. Making a backup? Oh dear, I have no clue how to do any of this.

Usually on a smart phone you will have the option of viewing all the apps on the phone by pressing the button to the far right as shown in this pic:
Samsung-GALAXY-Gio.jpg

That should show all apps that are on the phone-can you access the apps that way? Just to confirm Samsung Gio correct?

Sorry, Gio. You'd think it would have it written on it somewhere to remind us....er hem.

Yes, that is exactly what it won't do, when I hit that button, all I get is the animated icon in the centre that means "wait, I'm working on it" (you know the one) but it never stops. So I can't access the apps. Everyone I've asked says "reboot it" but nobody seems to know how.

Generally speaking, I do like this phone, but this whole "Hey, see if you can guess how I work!" attitude it has is a bit trying.

Other than trying a hard reset(which should always be out last resort)-lets try this:
Download Gemini from the Gplay Store.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.seasmind.android.gmappmgr&hl=en

Open the app and let it load up and hit the far left button on the phone(I think) :)
This should open to some more options:

Hit "Clear Cache" and the the button at the top as well after "One key Ram Optimize"
Reboot and try it now.
Not sure of what the name is of your Launcher-perhaps clearing the cache there would help also.
Hoping this helps but not counting on it :(

My son came to the rescue and rebooted it. That fixed it.
