Help Please Report 3G/4G (LTE) Speed Test Results

10059kb down. 10861kb up on Wifi.

1033kb down. 632kb up on 3G with LTE on.

614kb down and 653kb up with 3G and LTE off.

Seems strange that 3G is faster with LTE on. Wonder why?

EVO LTE may have a feature that will allow for faster 3G speeds, even if Sprints upgrades are not done in your area. I have noticed alot of people reporting faster 3G speeds on LTEvo, so i inquired over at s4gru, and got a pretty solid response/reason.

LTE/CDMA on

Seems to have slowed down now. Possibly more people on the tower?

CDMA only. Leveled out some. Not seeing the major difference I saw earlier.

So sprint is somehow prioritizing and boosting 3g speeds for the Ltevo in order to mitigate the lack of 4g lte out of the gate? That seems pretty underhanded.

I dont think they are "prioritizing" the LTEvo at all. Where did you come up with that idea?
If these theories are true, it is do the technological advancements of LTEvo's network useage.

I'm speculating that based on people reporting their 3g speeds are faster with lte turned on-which doesn't make sense; not one person in the country is connecting via lte. Why is a Ltevo with lte turned on getting better speeds than other 3g devices on the same network? I'm more wondering aloud.

With LTE on it uses a different standard than EVDO, follow the link.

edit: Or at least I think that's what it means, just Googled eHRPD and now I'm not so sure that makes as much sense. Anybody know for sure?

i have not read the links above, but sprint, along with verizon, is using whats called carrier aggregation. they are combining iDENs 800mhz and their 1900 pcs bands together (channel bonding). sprint was just approved today or yesterday i believe from the FCC to use their legacy iden freqs with LTE. this is one of the features of LTE advanced (channel bonding aka carrier aggregation).

The guy blogging about eHRPD is a knowledgeable high-tech guy who's asked that his theory be taken as exactly that until we know more. ;)

It comes down to this - implementation.

The radio chips in CDMA+LTE phones have some interesting operational modes - I know this from following Verizon's LTE progress in great detail.

Until we know what is really happening under the hood on the chip level, experts are doing their level best to iterate ideas to solution.

Until then - your mileage may vary, try the solutions that work for you. ;)

And most importantly - keep everyone informed of your observations and progress! :)
