I couldn't activate on the website, said plan wasn't compatible with the device... turns out the hotspot plan wasn't available anymore so I had to choose a new one. The website made it look like family plan wasn't an option for the phone and I was like... whaaaaaaa?! All is good now, after a run down to my sprint store. :)

EDIT: Sprint guy was checking out the phone. The don't have any yet! This was the first one he'd seen. A crowd actually formed and people were checking it out. Very very cool.

not compatible with family plan?? huh??

that's scary...I'm sure it's just a fluke easily overcome though.

I'm calm, I'm calm....JUST GIVE ME MY LTEVO SO I DON"T GO POSTAL!!!

Manager at BB is supposed to call me back and let me know if the LTEVOs were on today's UPS truck that already came in. oh the suspense!

Yeah, I was about to be very upset. But, looks like their website just can't handle family plan plus old hotspot plans together. All's good. And the phone.... Wow. Just wow.

I will say, the charging port on the side? EPIC FAIL. Can't stand it.

I got mine a couple of hours ago!!! I had to go into the sprint store to activate it though. The online activation was saying I needed to change my plan and I couldn't do it over the phone because I had no outside line to call them from.

The woman at Sprint said they had not received their phones yet, but they had some cool cases that she showed me.

Awesome phone!

Yeah that is exactly how I ended up in chat with someone. I was being forced to switch plans according to the internet. Im sure you were not the only one that wound up on a different plan and will be pissed. I think Sprint has been making some strategical errors with some of this process. My first time being crtical, but after 5 hours and 55 minutes total and having to wait yet another full week to get the phone, i feel like they really have had some big mistakes. I know my situation is more of the exception than the norm, but I have wasted a nights worth of work, will go nearly a month without a phone that I payed for already, I cant get out of that charge until a week to 10 days after I return the second phone they are sending, and so much more chaos. Hopefully some sleep and time will easy my anger.

The big tactical mistake I made, was not preordering through a store. Lesson learned. At least now I will have a little time to see just what other potential bugs are found before I get one that works in my hand. Thanks for letting me vent and for the suggestions that some of you made to try to fix it. As you know the disappointment if a factor in my rant too. Been looking for new info daily for well over a month, and now im like the kid that got coal in his stocking. :(

just to give a clear explaination of whats going on..excuse my short posts previosuly i was on my thrive... anyway..when i turn the evo on it prompts the hands free activation.. it them attemps to connect to the network and fails.. it will try every 60 seconds 5 times and then reads an error code.. when attempting to update the profile it fails also

it is right now on its 4th try after that i will see if my number is in there and if the esn on the box matches the phone

as mentioned, get sprint on the phone. make sure you have a plan that's compatible with the smartphone.

if you are simply replacing the phone, just call into sprint. they have to change some codes on your plan. and also make sure your old phone is turned off.

i had the evo3d previous to this so my plan is compatible im sure

You can't take a battery out on the ltevo tho?

Doh...sorry, force of habit. Okay, just shut down wait and turn back on.

Nontheless, I don't know why you're trying to activate without someone on the phone...if you're having all these issues. Why are you opposed to calling Sprint?

Ok, I had to post in here because I had a heluva time getting mine activated at BB.

2 1/2 hours and I stopped the folks at BB and went home with an unactivated phone. Very sad face....

Ok, called Sprint after I destroyed sum stuff with the BFH out back in the yard, and went to work.

They had to completely wipe all entries of phone numbers and meid's etc, from the device and start over.

Miss Laticia was most helpful, and got my phone activated in 10 minutes. Epic Happy now. :)

Walked into BB at 7 PM, left at 9:30, got the phone activated at home at about 10:45 PM EST.

Meid numbers on box didn't match numbers on phone... Correct? If you call ##786# it will give you a list of the meid numbers.. To anyone else that has a problem activating **** make sure these numbers match the box!!

No mine matched, the tech who did my phone activation was, how do I put it....a few donuts short of a dozen.
My normal sales dood was busy with iphone sales, and kept looking over and apologizing.

The mismatched MSid's is an issue that if properly trained, can be fixed rather easily by anyone. Once I saw how it was done, piece of cake. Just need those EPST password codes.....

The ONLY complaint I have about Sprint is one major frustration that I have always had--every single time I try to activate a phone to replace my current one (I keep the same number, too), I get an error message online telling me, "We're sorry, but your new phone requires you to change plans. Please contact Customer Care at...". What a crock of BS!

I even tried activating the phone via the phone itself. It took me through the steps; I input my Sprint PIN, user name, etc., then it takes me to a screen telling me that my device is incompatible with my current plan. So, like I have had to do the last 5 years or more, I am forced to call Sprint and have them activate it. Ridiculous.

Best But had to "change" my plan as well ... they had to remove the old $10 premium data charge and give me a new $10 premium data charge.

Which doesn't give me warm and fuzzy about the future... I.e. New LTE phones get a differently coded premium data charge for future rate increases, while original remains same.

I'm on a family plan with 5 phones, but when I go to activate the HTC EVO 4G LTE it asks me to switch to a non-family plan. Anyone else have this issue? If so, what did you do?

The plans they offer for the phone are:
Unlimited - $99.99

Everything Data - Plans
450 - $69.99
900 - $89.99

I would call Customer Service. I know we all had to switch plans as the old 4G data had a different code then the new LTE one. I know I had to go online and change it, yet it was still "technically" the same..
