Dropped your Evo yet?

I have had TEP on all 4 of my lines for the past two years. My son has used it twice. No one else has had to use it. Increasing the monthly fee isn't a big deal, even x4 phones, but also doubling the deductible means I doubt I will bother with it. Does the Best Buy insurance apply to phones that weren't bought at Best Buy? I have always bought my phones through Sprint, because my wife always talks them into perks or discounts.

Unfortunately, I dont think so in regards to the phones not purchased at best buy. additionally, BestBuys coverage is not nearly as comprehensive as Sprints, but if the rumors are true about the 200 dollar deductible, I'm going to be stuck between a rock and a hard place. I've always preferred Sprints insurance because it covers everything and anything (whereas BestBuys has limitations.) So yea... I'm gonna have a hard time choosing now. Hate to say it, but, this is probably another thing we can fault to crApple.

I have had the BB geek squad insurance for a few years now. Given my occupation, my phone is quite vulnerable to being dropped and run over by a 30,000 pound machine.....it has happened. Dealing with BB for insurance claims has been very easy. I bring in the pieces, explain what happened, and they set me up with a loaner, with a $50 deposit, and a few days later my new phone is in. So far.....no deductible has applied for my phone accidents. I highly recommend the BB insurance.

Yeah I thought I remembered no deductible with BB's insurance.

My name is Joseph, and today at approximately 4:00PM PST I suffered a tragedy beyond words.

My beloved, less than 2 day old, Evo 4G LTE was dropped. It fought a hard battle against a very rough concrete slab, but in the end, the concrete was the victor.

I believe this to possibly be the first if not one of the first few LTEvo's to have been broken.

:(

WARNING: GORE, BLOOD, DEAD PUPPIES AND THE LIKES THERE OF!
VIEW AT YOUR OWN RISK.

That really sux. they need to make an indestructible screen.

I am paying $10 a month with no deductible for Best Buy Black Tie insurance. First time ever using them.

Honestly, I think I would rather have lower monthly and higher deductible.

But, guess $180 not bad over 18 months.

They claim covers everything but loss/stolen. Have to be able to bring pieces in.

I was at the Redondo Pier on Friday, the day after I got my LTEvo, pulled the phone out to check my mail, and it it slipped out of my pocket onto the concrete. Luckily the screen is not broken and the phone continues to work fine, but it left several scratch marks on the body portion of the front. So now there are these little silver grooves dug into the grey body.

I do have a case coming, but it's not scheduled to come in till Wednesday. It's a TPU case which I hear provides good protection. But meanwhile this, combined with my pre-existing dead pixel, has made me think I should add some insurance. I was thinking of either ZaggSafe or ProtectCell. Anyone have any experience with either of those?

I prepaid for 24 months @ $169.98 which works out to $7.08/month.

The biggest benefit for me is dealing with BB instead of Sprint. Our local Chandler, AZ Sprint location is an absolute nightmare to deal with. Some of the worst customer service I've ever had to deal with in ANY line of service period.

Are you sure you dropped it? Lol it looks like that thing was shot with a bb gun...never seen a broken screen like that and I have seen plenty

Yeah, ya got me, I shot my highly anticipated LTEvo with a BB gun so I would have to wait a couple weeks to get it replaced through Asurion...

No, It was dropped, landed face down on a very corroded concrete surface with high exposed rocks.

On the plus side, I was able to root it and un root it successfully. Got wifi tether working and was able to load backups from my 3D. So at the very least I can back up everything from my current LTEvo and load it to the new one when it does arrive. :D

I should also add I just remembered a friend a work has the RAZR maxx... He dropped it and he also had a cracked screen... The glass under the gorilla glass was broken.... If that makes sense...

Its not glass under it, it was the lcd screen thats the issue with the Razr and Maxx when i had mine the verizon guy told me about that and then wanted me to buy a $50 case for the phone!

Well one more person can join your ranks. It wasn't dropped but this Sunday my mother was at a barbeque at a family friends and a "clown" of sorts decided she wanted to be 18 again and got trashed (a 50 year old women mind you) and once trashed proceeded to steel my mothers phone and dropped it in the pool.

Needless to say my mother is pissed as it wasn't even her fault yet here she sits about 3 days into her new phone which she is quite pleased with and its destroyed because of some drunk mom. Fortunately she has black tie which covers water damage, its rice bowling right now until bb is able to do anything .....

Make sure your mother is very clear that "some water spilled on it" as black tie doesn't cover dropping in pools, toilets, or molten lava.

Yup I already trained her on the art of lying, it was on the dinner table and a glass of water spilled right next to it

Good thing it wasn't dropped into a pool of molten lava... that would be a hard one to lie your way out of :D

Yeah the glass holds up to most drops with the gorilla glass... Most phone i see now with the gorilla glass the lcd screen is broke and not the glass its self.

Well just checking in. I have not received my replacement LTEvo yet, called Asurion a few times over the last week and the answer is always the same, "we don't have them yet, it will take 3-5 or 5-7 business days" I explained that I have been told that several times and it doesn't seem to make much difference to them. I understand them not having it I suppose, but with the national launch day today and the pre-releases out for a week now, I guess I expected them to have a few in stock.:(

As for my LTEvo, its still holding up, there are pieces of the glass coming off the screen now, I anticipated this happening and stopped putting it in my pocket to avoid sticking my hand into little pieces of glass. I don't use swype for the time being on account that I was dragging my finger across broken glass.

I think that the fact that its still holding up kinda says something about the build quality. Granted the glass broke, there isn't a phone around that I believe could have take that fall and not broke, but I believe the gorilla glass protected the LCD ( I know that's not exactly what it is) enough to keep it functional, along with the touch sensors still working. I'm impressed, but I would still like to have the replacement. I'm not going to lie, I have considered buying one today just to get it sooner, but I'll wait.;)
