Hi so I have a rooted, and unlocked Captivate. I recently tried to upgrade the firmware to ICS and had to reset it back to factory software because I for some reason didn't back it up. Does anyone have a working link to a Froyo package?
Eclair just isn't cutting it.

Thanks!

When you say upgrading the firmware thru att? Att is not releasing ICS for the captivate. The only way is to flash an ICS rom (in my case I recommend it as the ones available have been very stable to me). There is a guide in the root section. Let me know if this helps.
Also I think there should be froyo pakages in XDA, but if your gonna flash Froyo why not Gingerbread or ICS?

I am not happy with the captivate and wish that samsung would just make it easy for us to download the ICS software on the captivate. If you have froyo you are 2 updates behind and with gingerbread you are only 1 update behind, and the captivate will get no more updates. If someone could show me how to go back to froyo without rooting that would be great. Gingerbread has killed battery life for me.

You could root and put an ICS rom on yours. I'm sure its out of warranty so there would be no problem doing it. ICS runs fine on mine. I'd be happy to walk you through it if you'd like.

Can I get in on the you will walk us through it? My cappy is terrible right now and I figure I will at least try a new rom before upgrading?

Sure thing. You can send me a PM or we can move to the All Things Root section. But first you will need to download a few things:

You'll need to have the drivers installed so you'll have to install Kies Mini if you haven't already.

Next you'll need Odin3 and the CornKernel to root. Links can be found here: http://androidforums.com/captivate-all-things-root/493850-guide-rooting-adding-cwm-recovery-2-3-5-corn-kernel-2.html.

Finally you'll need an ICS rom. I'd recommend this one for now http://androidforums.com/captivate-all-things-root/505142-guide-install-ics-4-0-3-docs-master-ics.html

You don't need to do anything yet, just get the files downloaded and saved to a folder so you can find them.
