Nicest or Nastiest Athlete You've Personally Met

Nicest:
I would have to say Glenallen Hill. We met by chance when he was with the Indians. He was arriving at his hotel to play the Angels. He stopped and asked me why I didn't want an autograph. I explained that I knew he didn't like signing autographs because people sell them. He invited me on the spot to go "Party" with Mark Whiten, Carlos Baerga, Albert Belle, and him. We remained friends for many years.
.
Nastiest:
John Tudor when he was with the Dodgers. He was rude to everyone including his teammates regularly. It was really sad.

Nicest would have to be Chris Patterson our Ewan Murray (Scottish rugby stars) meet both on separate occasions and both were happy to chat away to everyone and sign autographs etc. actually all the rugby players I I've meet have been really nice guys!

Nastiest would unfortunately have to be Steven Naismith (Glasgow rangers and Scotland, though at the time Kilmarnock footballer) he came to college to promote the cup final Killie were in, and he turned up in jeans and a shirt (rather than tracksuit!) And he had no time for anyone, just took the pictures and went!

I think they forget that we the fans pay their salaries. I'm not saying they should bow to us, but at least they should be pleasant

I haven't met a lot of athletes, but I was lucky enough to meet Steve Yzerman in the course of a previous job. He was incredibly down to earth and seemed like a really genuinely nice guy! I've never been (and never will be) a Red Wing fan, but it's sure hard not to like Stevie Y - even more so after I met him.

Totally agree. Yzerman is very level headed. Some of the nicest athletes I've met were hockey players. My favorites, I think only because I spent so much time working with them, are Gordie Howe, Jeremy Roenick, and Chris Chelios.

Awesome! What do you do if you don't mind me asking?

Currently I am disabled and struggle to support my family ny selling off pieces of my meniscus collection.
Earlier in life I was an avid memorabilia collector (I only obtained items myself, do my collection is pristine), I was a sports agent in California until laws changed stating agents had to be attorneys, and I was an event promoter. I spent years deeply involved with athletes and celebrities.
My memories are what get me through my let life now. That, and my wonderful family.

Peyton Manning is very nice.... not an athlete, but Mark Cuban was also very down to earth, was able to meet him in a low-key bar in Atlanta and he even had a round of drinks with me and my buddies there. He was "cool" with us, but he made it amazingly clear his disdain for David Stern, pulled no punches.

Never met Cuban, but always seemed like a real guy. Manning is cool. Very subdued, very sure of himself but not cocky.

Vince Wilfork was very gracious. My father in law butchered a deer for him in 2005. He spent an hour just shooting the breeze with us when he picked it up, signed a bunch of stuff for my kids, and was generally friendly and down to earth.

Mind you, this was during the playoffs between the Patriots win over Jacksonville and the game the next week they lost to Denver.
