Root CyanogenMod 9.0.0 - Ice Cream Sandwich

After using it for a few days the only thing that stands out as not working is the camera. Wifi, MMS, 3G data all work just fine. Some functions of Ice Cream Sandwich won't work as the kernel is not updated but you really don't miss them in my opinion. Apps like Data Usage and Themes don't work. If you have used CM7 then you'll have somewhat of a similar experience.

The phone does lag occasionally here and there, but nothing that's preventing me from reverting back to a different ROM. I would suggest turning off auto-rotation and the screen transition animations. I also noticed some hiccups using Google Maps while the phone was redrawing maps. I am looking forward to the next update.

I've been on it too, since you brought it to my attention the other day. I threw on Apex launcher so I could keep the ICS feel while getting lots of extra options.

I found that any app on the ext-sd card (we lost the internal sd-card) was lost on reboot. So after installing all the apps I want I install TB and use the bulk option to move all apps to phone.

Also, though plenty of folks say it doesn't matter, I've noticed that the ones having the most installation problems aren't flashing from CM7.

Not sure if you saw this or if this helped you. DragonzKiller updated the bugs list and included this:

***NEW*** Google Play installs larger apps to the SD card on installation. After a reboot these no longer appear in the apps drawer. A workaround is to install the app, go to "Settings > Apps" and click on the app. Once there click "Move to phone" and you're app should remain persistent across reboots.

MUIUI 4, second ICS ROM, is on xda now. Based on CM9, so all the same issues. I'm trying it out in a bit.

Ok, I've flashed it twice now, and after installing my apps on it all I can do is get a fc every time I try to do something. And now trying to get into Bootstrap it's locked up. Going to have to SBF out of this thing. Too bad, it looked really nice until my issues.

sorry to hear you are having so much problems with it. If you can get into BSR try wiping cache/dalvik cache see if it helps. It looks promising but there's something about MIUI that I have not liked since the first release. Hopefully the next release will be better. For the mean time I'm back on CM7 till the next CM9 Alpha or RC.

Tried wiping stuff, nothing helped. Couldn't install the CM7-BSR fix either. Other than a missing camera, I'm loving CM9, so I'm heading back to that.

Funny you said you had problems with the BSR, I had problems going back to CM7 as well. I SBF'ed back to 2.3.4, then rooted and installed the patched BSR but I couldn't get it to go into recovery. I ended up using the previous version of BSR, then installing CM7 and then installing the patched BSR.

That's how I read to do it. Makes sense, since you use the normal BSR while you've still got non-CM ROM installed.

*sigh* yes, i may do the same, we'll see after tomorrow.

Edit: So after fighting with my phone to check my voicemail I've decided to go back to CM7. I had the problem like in the other thread where the screen would time out so quickly I couldn't enter my code or delete my VM without pressing the power button over and over. I really wanted to like this ROM.. oh well.. maybe Alpha 5 will offer some more improvements. Not to complain but this one was actually worse than Alpha 3.

Eclipse is great, but I like the customizations and settings of CM7

So, DZK has endorsed and recommended the CM9 Build Prop Mashup and after a couple of hours I can say it works GREAT!!! You should definitely try. He's going to put it in Alpha 5.

What I did was flash them all together, so I put all 3 zips in the same folder and flashed. As the instructions say, make sure to turn off Wi-Fi before flashing, then wipe cache and dalvik. As an extra rule I also wipe data.

Go Launcher works, nothing has FC'd so far, I did have a freeze where I had to pull the battery once, but it is definitely worth trying!

I installed the CM9,the gapps and the MX2 wifi patch. Everything works great so far except I have no wifi. I downloaded a couple of apps and widgits to turn wifi on/off but no luck. At a loss of what to do next to fix this. Should I have ran the MX2 wifi patch for the droid X2? What should I try next?

I'm not seeing Milestone in your info. If you don't have a Milestone X2 (MX2) don't use the patch.
