I just rooted and installed wifi tether. I enabled encryption in the wifi tether options. But mu pc still finds it as unencrypted when I do a search. And it connects to it also lol.

Is there a trick to encrypting this wifi tether? What did I do wrong?

turn on your access control. then when anyone connects, you will see a shield in the top left part of the screen and will have to pull it down and enabled their MAC as being able to use wireless.

never tried that option... then again I've used wireless tether twice... both times I didn't have to worry about others hopping on my connection

Thank you, access control works good enough for me. I just tested it out.

Keep in mind that whatever you send ovder unencrypted can be picked up by anyone. While the major concern is that you dont want someone using your phone for internet, its probably equally unlikely the geek in the corner at the coffeeshop is waiting for you to type in your facebook password.

Even still, keep this in mind.
