This is the second time on this phone this has happened; IDR what happened the first time to fix it (I think I had to do a factory reset)

Bottom line is Google acct is not syncing: contacts, gmail and calendar NOT syncing from the phone.

I've double checked Auto Sync is turned on the power widget.
I've been to Accounts/Google and double checked all the boxes are checked. I'm on a network (WiFi) so it has a data connection.

I've restarted the phone several times. I've cleared the data/cache from the Gmail app. I've uninstalled the updates and reinstalled them.

I am unable to remove that account from the phone without a factory reset. I don't want to have to do a factory reset, but it looks like that's the next step cuz I'm out of ideas.

Hope some smart folks here have some ideas; I'm fresh out!!

Thanks.

Bump!

OK, well I bit the bullet and did a factory reset. Everything went back to normal and my account synced up...for about 12 hours. Now it is refusing to sync again! Contacts, calendar and gmail are not synched up.

For more information: Under Accounts & sync/Google I have those three items checked; picass and play books is not checked. Also, interesting enough, the grey circle arrrows are shown as is the white circle arrows on the top menu bar.

Methinks there is some kind of "sync hangup" or something.

Also, I have a Thrive Tablet, also linked to my google accounts...is there any reason to think that somehow, some setting on the tablet is causing my phone not to sync?

Thanks.

Just saw your post. I also see that both of you are back east. Maybe it is a regional network issue. All my stuff is syncing fine here in Seattle.

However there were random times when I had the same problem. The one time I checked with verizon they said it was a server problem associated with bandwidth usage and their internal priority defaults for updates. This may be just verizon BS talk but it could make some sense. I was having similar issues with my hard line connection and the tech who came to the house confirmed that such things do happen at the regional data center.

FWIW.

what else do you have syncing

also, you are certain it isn't syncing at all? how are you sure

Have very little else syncing. Facebook and the HTC weather widget.

I'm certain it's not syncing because there is mail in my inbox that is NOT on my phone, an appointment that I entered into my calendar from my phone does NOT show up online when I log in. Also, my phone reports that it last synced with Google on May 31st...despite being in various configs of good 4G or even WiFi signal.

This is now the THIRD time this is happening. Factory Reset not a good solution for long term.

I can see that. But my last successful sycn was 31 May...4 days ago. Wouldn't a problem like that manifest itself to others in my region? And wouldn't it resolve itself within a day or at most two?

Here is the solution I found on this page: comment 8

Basically it's happening because there's not enough internal memory to sync it with google so you have to delete apps and then it will sync again. I know this because I did a factory reset and everything was good for a while but then it started happening again. Deleted some apps and everything fixed itself without having to do factory reset!

Thanks for linking that thread!

But... The rezound has good internal memory. That SOO shouldn't be the problem.

I would exchange the phone pronto...

bit late for a reply but if it helps anyone else. This happened a lot recently o my htc (desire) device. The problem was not enough memory to carry out the sync. Got transferred back and forth from vodafone and tackling numerous "take battery out, take sim out, disable wifi " scenarios.. The guy at HTC suggested I reset to factory defaults but suggested downloadig sms backup first. As a last resort I went into settings / manage applications and copied all the apps to SD. At least the ones that could be copied. Instant sync without pressing sync buttion. Hope it helps.

Ok so I was trying to update some contacts on the computer and get them to sync with my phone. No joy. In fact I have not had a successful contact sync since Aug 26th. Everything else with Google syncs, G+ (turned on after I noticed problem to see if I could sync), gmail, calendar, everything that is checked syncs except contacts.

Have had to do a factory reset once to get it so that the phone would have 4G again, would like to avoid another factory reset.

Anyone have any ideas?

There are 8GB free of the 16GB total internal memory. 1.64 GB internal and 7.26 GB phone.
