Insurance options for the LTE 4G?

Anyone getting the Sprint insurance on the evo lte? I was thinking maybe simply due to if I ever had to get the battery replaced, but at $11.00 a month for 12 months for example is $132.00 for the year. How much would it cost to replace the battery? I plan on having my phone in an Otter Box Defender, so I will not have to worry about damage to the phone.

Just wondering what everyone's thought on this was.

battery replacement cost is a good question... interested in this myself. Although, I've never had to replace a battery due to failure in either of my EVO's... I'd still like to know. If the battery fails in the first year, though.. warranty will cover it. :)

Although Sprint insurance has a deductible... It is far more comprehensive then Best Buys insurance. Sprint covers anything and everything... Best Buy, not so much. Just an FYI
The Sprint insurance has a deductible? I've had my EVO replaced three times and I haven't paid a deductible. How much is it? Even if you don't have insurance, they will fix anything for like thirty something bucks.

I'm debating not even getting insurance. I've had a multitude of smart phones and have never had to replace them due to user error. Non-user errors should be covered by Sprint anyway, right?

Not necessarily by Sprint, but by HTC, for the first year. Which is nice, but what I mean is, you many not be able to get it fixed by a local Sprint store every time... and have to mail the phone to HTC and wait... who knows how long. But, if you never have had a problem... pry not too big of a deal.

I've had Sprint insurance on my current Evo 3D, on my 'ole Evo 4G, and on the now-ancient Hero...and the only time I've had to go to sprint for repair was last month when the touch screen on my 3vo crapped out and they replaced it at no cost in under an hour.
I'm really tempted to just drop the insurance since I've had a pretty good track record and carry them in an Otterbox Commuter case.

Hypothetical question; What happen if your phone screen crap's out on you again!? If you drop Sprint's insurance, I recommend you get insurance from annyone for that just in case situation!

The only thing BB doesn't cover is lost or stolen. That's something a lot of people can use to decide which to go with. I have never lost my phone, but I have dropped it and not having to pay a deductible for dropping it or water damage is nice.

Wouldn't it be fixed for free under warranty anyway? The screen wasn't damaged...it just started having ghost presses in various places since the touch screen had gone bad (I'm assuming at no fault of my own).

I use GoCare Smartphone Insurance, it only cost me $99 up front for 2 years, and any non-accidental damage like something inside or buttons dying is covered with no deductible and free shipping both ways, as well as a loaner phone if you want it. Instead of refurbished they give you a new phone if they can't repair it, or the unlocked value of the phone is reimbursed to you to purchase another one, covers up to $700. Accidental damage like cracked screen or full immersion is $50 deductible, but shipping is still covered both ways. I still haven't used it, but it's nice to have if you want it. Also covers rooted phones, and you can buy the insurance at any time, no 30 day deadline, as long as it's working.

Zagg comparable insurance for the same price as well.

Sprint only has a deductible if you totally destroy the phone or suffer water damage.... Otherwise there is no deductible.

Here's one of the final companies I'm considering for insurance.

http://www.ensquared.com/catalog

$59 upfront - 1 year, $75 deductible, coverage INCLUDES loss/theft (w/ police report) (max 2 claims)
$99 upfront - 2 year, $75 deductible, coverage INCLUDES loss/theft (w/ police report) (max 3 claims)

I'll probably keep the maintanence repair portion of TEP so I can still get things fixed in store, and get this one. Coverage of loss/theft is a huge selling point for this one. The BB plan is great though w/ no deductible though (no loss/theft coverage)... decisions decisions.

I asked Sprint if it was going up to 11 bucks and they said no they hadn't heard that. But they did say it depended on the phone and the retail price. But I didn't know the deductible was going up to 200. So should I have gotten Best Buys. They gave me a pamphlet on this black tie protection. I heard it covered everything but water damage but I', not sure. Now I may switch. Do you pay there's monthly or one fee at one time like per year or so?

I had the insurance on my OG EVO and I was glad I did. The original took a dip in my hot tub, and the 2nd one started shutting off every time it got bumped (in my pocket, laying down on a table, etc). But it looks like they're bumping the monthly fee up to $11 and that the deductible is going to $200 (was $100 for the OG). $200 is going to be a deal breaker for me. I bought mine at Best Buy (edit: no deductible)..only you have to bring phone to the store and it takes about 2 days to get replacement but they'll give you a loaner so you're not phoneless(Sprint/Assurion is overnight UPS). I think I'll sign up for the BB plan.

UPDATE: Best Buy is $10 per month with no deductible. I'm signing up!

Check out this link over at the insider

Wouldnt the deductible be $150? I thought the retaul value of the HTC EVO 4G LTE was 549.99?

According to the info. from the Sprint Insider page, the deductible is only increasing to $150.

"James Jacox (21:24:03) :
so wait my deductible will be 150 for my evo4glte?

yep, and $11/mo"

With the new LTEVO comes a new contract. I'm re-evaluating all the pros and cons and have come to the question of insurance.

For my OG Evo I rocked Sprint's insurance. My power port disconnected from the board and I had to do a swap. It was (minus the deductable) painless.

Now, with the LTEVO I'm wondering if I should go a cheaper route. Here are the three I'm considering:

Asurion (sprint): $264 (@ $11/mo) for two years, $150 deductable, 30 day enrollment period, 1 day turnaround for replacement, includes instore repairs.

SquareTrade: $125 for two years, $99 deductable, 30 day enrollment period, 1 day turnaround for replacement

ZaggSafe: $99 for two years, $59 deductable, 90 day enrollment period, 3-5 day turnaround for replacement, specifically covers rooted phones

I'm really leaning toward the Zagg insurance (I can live without a phone for a few days), but was curious as to opinions or experiences you may have.
