i have all the files here in a folder to do everything i want regarding rooting it and editing the crap out of it.

the only thing that is holding me back is the warranty.

will i VOID my warranty if root my phone?

i have heard both yes and no!
who am i supposed to believe?

nevermind, it doesn't even matter.

i have a 12 month warranty, and if i root it today, and something goes faulty tomorrow, i would be screwed.

i'm just going to sleep on it for about a week and keep reading.

i cant fork out another $500 for another phone, just bc i want it rooted, and there is a chance of something going wrong.

Unlocking the boot loader is Googles/HTC way of knowing that you have hacked your phone, and once someone does that it will void your warranty from both Google and HTC.

You might want to check out the Nexus One root thread here on the forums..

..Not sure why people post rooting questions in this forum when there's a root forum.

nah, before you unlock the bootloader it gives you the warning. think about it, i took the plunge and i haven't looked back :)
I know dude. I REALLY REALLY want to lol....but i already have 2 small scratches on the screen.

i might want to send it back to get a perfectly new version then do it.

i just don't want to have to spend another 500 if something goes wrong.

Um..I'm pretty sure the warranty doesn't cover you abusing the phone. As its pretty hard to put scratches on the screen.

well i wouldn't say i abused my phone lol.

i haven't really put anything hard on the screen or dropped it, so it might just be something stuck on there, but it looks like a light scratch.

maybe ill use a buffing wheel from my dremel.
