When I was a kid...

i used to shout at the electric fan. lol!

We had one of those water cooler window units when I was a kid. It was great for singing into or just making noises.... and mold around the window from all of the moisture. I know where you are coming from. The quality of entertainment would just blow today's kids minds.

You could open the hood of the car and see the engine.

not only could you see it you could crawl in with it. Had plenty of room to work on the engine now you have to be Darth Vader and use the force to get to some of the bolts, plugs, mounts, and even componets like the power steering pump. You didn't need all kinds of special tools either and get this you could actually get any part from a parts distributor instead of the dealer.

You could easily diagnose your problem and put a repair on it in no time without a reference book or going online. If you fell short of any working knowledge of your auto you were expected to set with the women folk and discuss knitting. If it was a major repair, you could count on your neighbors to come and lend a hand. Everything was SAE and one box of wrenches and you had a complete set of the tools of the trade. There was no such thing as a ratchet box end wrench and absolutely no need for one. A good sturdy tree and a come-a-long was your engine hoist and doubled as your shaded garage.

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the burning of the school
We have tortured every teacher, we have broken every rule.
We have fought in the office, we have fought along the hall,
As kids go marching on.

Glory, glory hallelujah, teacher hit me with a ruler
I bopped her on the bean with a rotten tangerine,
Her teeth came marching out.

Last day of school song all through elementary.
