Root Cant root huawei ascend 2.2.2

Trying to root ascend. metro pcs, 2.2.2.
tried z4root, gingerbreak every dam version i can find
gingerbreak loops on "rooting this could take a few minutes" nothing happens
im on a mac.
one click root doesnt work

Backup everything, flash to stock, update to 2.2 again, flash with Gingerbreak. There's an issue with updating from rooted 2.1 and trying to regain root.

I am having the same issue and none of the above information has helped. Anyother ideas. I have tried oneclick, gingerbreak of all sorts and z4root (even though I knew it wouldnt work),

Another option, for those of you who are willing to try it:

Flash PlayfulMod, which is PlayfulGod's rooted and deodexed MetroPCS 2.2 upgrade. No need to fuss with trying to root when PlayfulMod is already rooted, runs faster, and has a2sd integrated. I ran it for a bit myself while I was still using my Ascend, and it was great.

Were u rooted when u upgraded?

When I used dialer code I forget which i found menu with different usb settings. It was on normal (might have been different like regular or standard but it was similar and top choice) so idk why no computers will see it. It was like that on 2.1 rooted and unrooted. When on 2.1 with root since no usb could see rom manager was only way i could find to flash custom rom. i couldnt use rom manager because it say it needed 2.2 or up and i failed to unroot before upgrading. I still cant find way to get computer to even say failed to install like drivers tried but werent recognized. It like i hadnt plugged anything in. Tried multiple drivers with and without usb debugging on. This other huawei with broken screen connect fine, just gota figure out how to turn on usb debugging so i can use screencast when booted. Currently only works in cwm.

Maybe , if gplay will let you, dload cwm to the working ascend, transfer sd card from working ascend, to card reader, copy on comp, take file and paste onto sd, sometimes that works. If you can, before you do that, have a copy of your rom of choice, backed up on your comp, because your gonna get rid of system, data, sd, everything, but through cwm, not comp( don't use that, long time ago, I even deleted cwm, phone was bricked, no backup of any kind, nothing but phone and white turn on screen).

The only thing I got is a rooted phone, no stock backup,( don't care bout that, don't need it, as long as I got roms, cause all that's gone long ago, like having a self-built bare comp) . I have carriers settings, that's all I need, sometimes flashing back to stock is not needed.

Put cwm on SD... u mean rom manager? I couldnt use that on 2.1 rooted cuz it for 2.2. Even tried side loading apk. Now it 2.2 no root and stock recovery. And for some reason still won't be seen by computer. No drivers found not even as fail install. Fone and computer both don't react when plugged in. No mount USB or debugging notifications

Z4and gingerbreak. What else is there. Superoneclick no go cuz computer can't see

But since I was already rooted only flash to 2.1 only option anyway
