Otterbox case for the HTC EVO 4G LTE.

You personally have the defender for this phone? I know previous models did it.... I guess I was optimistic that they would finally solve this problem.... Bummer... Well it's already been ordered I guess I'm going to have to see for myself.. :(

Yes, I do have the defender on my El Tevo. I'm sticking with it because of the protection throughout the day and when I get home I usually take it out to "breathe.":)

How is it compared to the screen on the Otterbox Defender?

The defender screen scratches pretty easy Imo. Mine was scratched after the first few days of use. The general reviews towards the Zagg's are negative as well. Even though a lifetime warranty is offered, do you really want to spend a lifetime looking at imperfections and orangepeel? I had really good results with Ghost Armor on the OG where I purchased the full body kit. I'm waiting on either GA or Steinheil for this one.

Just got my first Defender yesterday. I absolutely love it. I hated how the phone felt without a case. I was sure I was going to drop it. I used a cheap silicone case while waiting for the OB and that was better than nothing - but the defender just makes the phone feel so much beefier and strong.

I was set to remove the screen protector as soon as I opened the box as I hate anything over my screen but to my complete surprise I'm liking it. Mine is crystal clear and seems to fingerprint and smudge less than the glass. I don't understand the negative claims about the SP.

I always heard Steinheil had good protectors and I've used Clarivue on my past couple EVO's. Clarivue's came out 1st got an email the other day about pre ordering and my friend ordered a pack and it has 2 in there. He's going to put one on my phone when he gets them. I always read that people take the one off that comes with the defender I've never had one. I won my a convert combo from Seidio and it comes with a protector but I don't know how it will be. I have the pink commuter can try to take pictures later. Got it to hold me over till my surface came from seidio.

I'll have to check those out :)

I really wish Otterbox would step up and integrate a high quality protector in the Defender series. I like the idea of a screen protector sealed on the inside of the front cover, providing additional protection from invading elements.

I like the Otterbox Defender, I can see how some don't like it though. I had an Active on my 3Vo, so with the Defender it has similar thickness. It's not that much of a difference to me. I tend to get a lot of cases, and I prefer this over the Platinum to start with. I'll get another smaller case as more become available. With the $50 discount from Best Buy, I basically got it for free anyway. The qualities excellent and the screen protector isn't bad so far. I can't say how it will be long term.

This describes my exact same experiences, except for the cheap silicone case, I had one on my Evo though.

Only tricky thing is hitting the notification bar just right so you get that instead of the widget screen, but with an hour's practice, that problem went away as well.

Never thought I'd like a Defender from the bulky appearance in photos in other phone forums hereabouts - but I'm really, really liking it.

Despite the deep recess and added bulk and weight, the kickstand is working fine, that completely surprised me.

It's my first Otterbox. :)

Same here I was impressed. I had him take it out and put it on my phone to see if I liked it first.

The holster takes some getting used to though.

Yeah, that holster is taking it into Batman utility belt territory for me, don't know if I'll even try it. By itself, it slips into a shirt pocket with no trouble, that really surprised me.

Anyone have pics of their LTEVO with the commuter case? Defender looks too bulky to me.

And I thought the EVO 4G was big.....this phone may be thin, but it's very large in every other direction.

I'm also interested in reviews on and photos of the Commuter case. I'm using the Dizcount TPU case right now but could stand for something with a little more protection, but not as bulky as the Defender.

Not heard of this Zagg screen protector? Are they pretty good? I did a quick search, but didn't see any for the LTEvo.. they have a lifetime warranty? (so they last at least 2 years or so lol)

Not heard of Zagg? ;) They are a pretty big name is screen protectors. I happen to really like their protectors as the "rubbery" feel actually helps me feel as if I have more control over certain aspects of the touch-screen. I am very tactile though so the glossy glassy feel does not give me any tactileness (I think I made that word up:D). Zagg has a 100% guarantee and Best Buy has folks that will install them for you for free. . . then if they get ratty looking you can get it replaced! NICE.

I really like the commuter I picked up today. I'm using a Zagg protector. It did come with one (not attached to case) in the box but I already had the Zagg on there. The commuter makes it much easier for me to hold on to the phone and doesn't add much bulk. Below are some pics of my fab phone next to an I-fone with a Mophie case . . .

That must be one heck of a pocket :D

If you refer back to my initial impression, I thought very highly of the included SP. It was clear and smooth and you could barely tell it was there. That was before I took it out of the case for the first time in on Thursday. I was blown away by the clarity I was missing. When I went to clean the SP I noticed that it was very rough and "splotchy", and seemed to have an overspray like pattern all over. After I reinstalled it I noticed some type of foreign material migrated beneath the SP. I really want a protector sealed to the glass that's as optically clear some possible.

As well, it got scratched pretty bad within the first few days. I'm not sure how as I never had keys or anything in the pocket with it.

Those are the things I've read over and over that people don't like about built in/included Otterbox brand protectors. They gather oil, moisture, and debris between the protector and the screen.

They also scratch incredibly easy.

Well, if I change my mind, I am definitely going to check out the Commuter.

Don't know what to say about my pocket size though. :D

I think this thing is way thinner than the 3vo defender and that fit in my shirt pocket... Just saying.... I'm sure this one will... I honestly can't stand havingmmy phone in my pocket... I love the holster. To eachs own!

I didn't know the commuter even came with a screen protector. I just saw tis post and went back to my bag of stuff from Sprint and there it is. We ordered a pack of Calrivue but there not here yet. It said preorder ships in 2 weeks but this will hold me over. I need something for now.

I found the commuter at a Sprint store - They only had the Pink option though. I don't know if they had at one time another option. It was PACKED in there and I couldn't find anyone to ask . . . and my nerves needed me to get out of there ASAP!
The BB's around here do NOT have the commuter.

BB doesn't even have an online listing for the commuter. When I bought (and returned) my defender at my local BB, they had maybe two commuters on the shelves for much older phones. I guess they figure the profit's in the expensive ones. Amazon is only selling it through resellers at the moment.
