This is actually the browser's fault. I had the exact same problem.I was searching for browsers and found the best one. It is easy to use, has a fullscreen option, and is at least 3 times faster than stock.
it is called Steel. Download it at the android market, and spread the word. People shouldn't suffer the crappy stock browser
I had steel and hated it, and I didn't notice it being any faster than the stock browser.

a couple suggestions for ya:
In the Browser settings:
-Clear cache
-Clear History
- do this periodically and the phone will move a lot faster in general.
Messages
-Download SMSBackup or any other SMS backup app
- run the backup and then delete your SMS threads periodically, this too will help keep your phone running faster.
Apps & Widgets
- Download Task Panel or TasKiller Free
(or another task/app killing program)
These will show you what's running on your phone, so when your browser is slow, you can see that 4 apps are running and 3 widgets never stop running. Task Panel allows you an "Ignore list" (so that it doesn't kill anything important) and a "Wanted list"
which will auto-kill apps YOU specify whenever the available memory drops below a certain level.
Some widgets are always on, some only are running when they update. If you have a lot of widgets that are the "always running" variety, that's going to slow down your phone. Some of those widgets show up as "running" even after you've removed them from the home page! Even after rebooting the phone, too!
Memory For Lemmings
This is a great app. Android periodically clears up lag on your phone by finding memory that's not really being used and cleaning it up. Memory For Lemmings merely nudges android to run that memory cleanup manually. I alternate between killing apps, and running this little app, and my phone is pretty good to go.
