Root [Kernel][GB] H426 - BDTweaks now on Google Play (06/24/13)

my phone tends to this kernal like a duck to water. im not having any real issues with this kernal. most of the time i idle at 800 and top at 1400. as a thought could greater distance between idle and top speed put more shock on the system. since voltage is set the amperage would be greater for the larger jump. im wondering if this could be a factor for the bugs that wont replicate. as stated all phones are different.this is just my thoughts.

OK. Not trying to bad mouth your work... you do more than most people would attempt, its a shame some phones have issues, also as a thought why not try a kernel for phones having the issues, you know based on hyper but built for the ****** phones like mine lol. I would love to see my phone run at 1400 but I have a feeling it won't happen. (Btw.. ctmod is great dude keep em coming)

Coming from the Prevail section, I am oh so familiar with how some phones can take the high settings while others cannot. There were a lot of Prevails that could handle the 946MHz setting. Mine was not 1 of them, I was only able to run at 900MHz.

A lot of it also has to do with the I/O and Gov. settings. I wasn't even able to run at 900MHz until I found the correct combination of settings. I've found that the Marquee is the same way. Also, some phones will not allow you to turn up the setting very fast. Even though my Marquee will run stable at 1400, I still need to turn it up a little at a time to get there. I turn it up a notch at a time and run it for about 5 or 10 minutes then turn it up again. I have a feeling that some of you will be able to get the higher settings if you play with your settings and turn the cpu up a little at a time. Just my 2 cents. Hope it helps a few of you.

Phone freezes above 1300 mhz, wifi constantly trying to obtain IP address( setting to static IP temporarily fixed), audio issues, governors resetting on their own, gpu lag issues, and CPU being set to 1360 even when I have it set at 1000 or lower, I thought it was just my phone with these issues but I am noticing others with similar issues, anyways keep up the good work, I know you will fix this.


I also have some of your mention issue using hyper1.5 kernel like gpu lag audio issues as well... however the MarqueeUnleashed_1300MHz_v3_2_1 works great for me clocked at 1300mhz without any freezing issue at all i would love to use the hyper kernel after it is fixed of course.

Just because your kernel runs fine at 1300 doesn't mean it'll handle 1400. Lagging and freezing is a sign that your CPU may not can handle 1.4GHz. Did you try running the hyper kernel at 1300? If so did you still have issues?

Trust me when I say that all processors are not alike even though they are rated the same and are in the same make of phone.

Ive tested the heck out of this kernel and the only problem I've had is the shutter sound on the camera.:)


EDIT: I also wanted to add 1 more thing. Problems with the kernel mean most everyone if not all would be experiencing the same problems.

Kernel issues are not widespread across all devices, some hardware can and will interact with software differently. Same can be said with pc's , and gaming consoles. Bugs can be present on some sets of hardware, and not present on others of the same make. Alot of Android phones are built using several manufacturers, I believe to some degree these are the reasons some hardware is different than others even though they share the same parts.

I also noticed the CPU being set at 1360 on my wife's marquee too, even though I had it set at 1000.

It happened on my marquee after using a resource intensive app such as a 3d game, my gpu scores are also lower on hyper 1.5 than they are with marquee unleashed 1300 MHz. And it also caused sporadic issues with my SD card during benchmark test.

Edit: to clarify can everyone confirm when they got their marquees, it may just be us early adopters that got the lacking hardware.

Some could handle the full 946MHz, others could only handle 900MHz (mine) while others could only handle the stock setting of 800MHz.

Some of the processors may hit that mark and some may go a lot higher but since they are the same processor they are still labeled as a 1GHz processor. Hence the reason for the varied results. We had the same issues over in the Prevail section when the first overclocked kernels came out so this is not just a problem w/ the Marquee and it's kernel.

The bottom line is that some processors are just better than others and can handle more.

As for my Marquee, it's just about 3 months old if that.

You're basically right. It's all about the technology used to lithograph the procesor. When a lith template is made, it has a certain number of times you can use it to 'press' a die. Each time it 'presses' a die, it deteriorates just a little bit, until it no longer meets standards. A processor that was pressed (or etched, if you will) with a brand new template will have cleaner, clearer nanopathways than one etched with an almost used-up template, HOWEVER both still fall within the 1ghz operating paramaters. This results in being able to pass more current through them at a higher rate (which can also deteriorate the nanopathways of the processor), resulting in an overclocked chip.

The bottom line is that some processors are just better than others and can handle more.

Dude, Im not new to the android Modding scene, I've been at it for about two years. My last phone was able to clock at 864mhz( optimus v) while most others topped at 768mhz. It had to do with the time it was manufactured with those phones. I was late to the scene and hence got the better less buggy hardware. All android phones go through this. It is through trial and error that we find the real problem. Its always hardware related, but the software can be re-written to accommodate the hardware to remove the limitations. Now the guys in the optimus v forums can get those phones that wouldn't run above 768mhz actually running above that hence the software was rewritten to remove the limitations. I know alot about Android biker, and I do alot of research, please stop trying to discount what I am trying to explain in this forum, I am simply looking for and posting what I know and learn so that it may assist bloodawn if he so chooses to release better kernels

It didn't look or sound to me like he was trying to discount anything. He was merely sharing what he knows of processor manufacturing, which -- while lacking detail and specifics -- was pretty much on-point. While there are ways (through software) to squeeze more efficiency out of a kernel, the majority of a processor's ability to be overclocked and/or undervolted is a DIRECT result of the manufacturing standards of the processor.

Please don't attack people for trying to share what they know about something. Agree or disagree, but keep things constructive. "I know more than you do so your input is irrelevant" attitudes and posts like this are the very reason I left XDA.

By no means was I saying I know more than him. Not at all. Nor was I "attacking" him. I was saying I'm just about well versed as he may be with all things android. If his post was irrelevant I would not have even responded. Peoples opinions are what gets things moving to push things in the right direction. Thank you for your input as well. In the tech world there will always be "discussions" and that is all that this is nothing more.

Huh, that explains alot. Thanks. When I overclocked my pc the CPU was able to handle the increased load but my gpu (ati radeon) could not handle the clock speeds. Burned up. The very next gpu I got was a replacement from the manufacturer and was able to handle the increased voltage. I am assuming the same can be said about the integrated chip sets android phones run on.

As for helping Bloodawn, I've been helping him test his ROMs since he started working on CTMod last year. Not only have I helped him but I've also put my phone on the line quite a few times for other DEVS testing kernels that most of you have never even seen. You only get to see the finished product. ;) If you take a trip over to the Prevail section and look at the OC kernel that they are running on CM7 and CTMod, Slayer72 and I tested that kernel for Trenchkato. Every other OC kernel that has been made for the Prevail is based on that 1 kernel. :cool:

If you take a look over to the left side of the screen and look at the "Thanked" #, that didn't get there by me discounting people bro. It got there because I love helping people solve problems with their phone. If ever I have something to say about a comment that I disagree with, I don't beat around the bush. I will come right out and tell that person that they are wrong or that I disagree. Fortunately that happens very rarely because I value what most members have to say.

Again, I apologize if something I said may have been mistakenly taken as "discounting" you. It was not meant that way. :)
