Galaxy Nexus Watering Hole

Actually I was drooling about the retina display MacBook Pro - right up to I got the call from the auto service department today that it was going to cost $1100 to replace the leaky struts on my 9 year old car. Ouch.

Maybe if I can get Stigy to paint my wheels I'll feel better about keeping the car?

Captain, we just got back from a graduation in Dallas and "Plastidip" spray is the range for painting wheels, grills and miscellaneous parts...I keep looking at the can of it in my shop for tools and wondering who ever thought of that, lol.

Morning all! Well today is looking much better than yesterday, I will say that. Although going to be raining again... We have gotten 3 inches at the house the past 36 hours, and a lot more the next two days...

So I have to be honest, I have been thinking about the GS3 lately... a coworker of mine has pre-ordered it, and it will be very tempting to me to get it if it gets solid 4G in the office... I am so tired of 100 kbps download speeds... :p

I'm sure it was just a brain fart...

Morning everyone! Got to sleep in to a whopping 7am. :) Really hope I'm not coming down with anything. Woke up really congested and a bunch of people at work are getting sick. :( Hoping it just may be some allergies but it seems a bit late for that. Anywho, will certainly enjoy my day off today! :D

If you haven't caught it yet, someone posted this in the Verizon forum:
Verizon Wireless Unveils New Share Everything Plans For Basic Phones, Smartphones, Tablets And More
Not sure what to think about it. I know the amount of fees we pay isn't included there (which is considerable) so don't know if we'd end up saving much. The wife uses very little data, and I don't use a ton so 4Gig between the two of us may be enough. Hmmmm
Thoughts?

Wow, thanks for sharing that link. I hadn't caught it yet. However, it's about what I figured. I might save $10/month by giving up unlimited data for a shared 4GB plan. But I gain unlimited minutes and messaging at the same time. It's a tradeoff and nothing that makes me want to jump into the ring. If they had that 4GB plan for about $20/mont cheaper than it is I might consider it. I only use 1.5GB/month and the wife might use 0.5GB/month. 4 would be plenty for us for now. Hard to let go of that unlimited data though.

I do like that mobile hotspot is included though. Finally they're confirming what we knew all along. Minutes and messaging are low bandwidth items and you can really use as much as you want and data is data no matter how you use it or from what device you use it.

Yeah, between our shared 400min, I don't think we even touch it. We text quite a bit, but not like some 14 year old.
Wife's job is starting to subsidize some of our bill since she uses her phone a lot for work.

As a side note: What the hell is this new emoticon about: :smokingsomb:?

LOL!! I noticed that new emoticon, hilarious.

Back to topic...I get a 20% discount through work with Verizon so That $150 for the 4GB plan and 2 phones would be less after my discount...but the way they apply the discount is strange and might not apply to both lines or something. If it does we stand to save quite a bit over what we have now.

Good morning all. See below for my frustrations. Ugh its only Tuesday.

Uh oh, Devils lost the Stanley Cup - Stigy is probably pretty bummed. :(

As a Sharks fan I am not only bummed, but outraged. I hate all LA teams!

Pretty bummed especially because of the game yesterday. A missed call by the refs, turned into a "retaliation" by a Devil player which lead to a 5-minute major that led to 3 goals by the Kings. I don't think I've ever seen a 5 minute major called in a SCF elimination game.

Just check out the stats below - 47 penalty minutes for the Devils, 6 for the Kings. Just a bit biased there.

And then there was this - a ref setting a pick for a Kings player. Incidental contact, c'mon he was coming straight at the ref. Move out the way you idiot. This led to the Kings 4th goal.

I hate anything Jersey LOL

We hate you too. :D :smokingsomb: (just kidding of course).

Happy to hear the Devils lost. No reason the Penguins should have the cup right now.

Philly is the team you have beef with - we took care of them after that.

Still a hair less than ours. Well, at least we dropped cable a couple years ago so that's one less bill. Missed out on that promotion Chief brought up a year or so ago. :(

I got in on it and then decided I wanted to save some money and dropped our text from unlimited to 500/month and surprise...the next bill was $40 higher. When I dropped the texts it took us off the promotion.

Morning all! Very overcast here in North
Jersey today but need to run errands so it won't be too much of a hassle anyway.

Indeed. Our final bill after discounts and then fees and taxes is $167/month :(

Mine too. I'm afraid to do anything with my Verizon stuff right now - I get a nice discount through my old job and will likely have quite a large jump if they take it away.

Not a huge surprise, no one thought it would really save money. I ran the numbers, and for us, two smartphones with 4GB data, our plan would jump $5 in total fees, and either another $2, or $16 due to loss of discount eligible charges (now my wife's line charge and data plan aren't discount eligible, for a total of $25. Under the new plan, her line (40) and possibly the data charge, (70), won't be discounted). So either $7 or $21 more, for a throttled data plan (albeit one I won't exceed in the near future), but with unlimited minutes (which I don't need).

I also have two extra lines that we added to get subsidized pricing on new phones for our main lines, this new plan would kill us because of those.

This plan will save money for low data, high minute smartphone users with more than 3 lines on their plan. That's about it.

Actually, for people who own 4G tablets, this could be a boon. for only $10 per month you can add a tablet to your plan.

CSR I talked with said all of the fees would be discounted for me so the plan would be $40 + $40 for the two lines + $70 for the data bucket totaling $150 and all of that at a 20% discount would bring it down to around $130 including taxes and fees whereas I'm paying $167 and change now.
