Black looks Black to me: Purple looks purple...

Maybe try some other software to encode/convert/transfer the movie to the N1? I use Handbrake (free!!)

Cheers!

No, it has nothing to do with the encoding. The movie looks fine on my computer and iPhone, but is purple as can be on my nexus. YouTube videos also are purple.

It's not that the phone isn't capable of showing true blacks, because it does, and quite well. But when something is supposed to be really dark, like a smoke on black or light against a black background it ends up purple every time (even when it should be blue or grey or even a bit yellow).

I've said this elsewhere, and I'll say it again. It is not any innate difference between the two versions, the OLED screen on the nexus just varies a bit from unit to unit. My first handset had a very "warm" display. Things looked purple or pink. My wife's N1 looked normal. I had mine replaced and it is fine; still a bit warmer than the wife's, but certainly fine.

When researching this I came across a thread on another forum about it (don't remember where, sorry). The OP had a pic comparing two Tmo N1s:

I don't think this is a problem with the AT&T version, just a bad handset. Get it replaced. When I had mine replaced and explained the issue to the rep, she responded with, "oh, a miscalibrated screen." I don't know if she was BSing or they actually know it can happen. Take this for what you will
