So I sold my pogo dock because calls didn't come through aux, waiting on a mountek to arrive.

I'm looking for a car home app, I really enjoyed the one on my atrix.

I've tried car home ultra and didn't like it, also have vlingo but I'm looking for something a bit more simple and astheticly pleasing on the eyes

Any suggestions? I tried installing an apk off xda for Google's older car home but it won't install

Thanks

Install the CarHomeGoogle.apk
Then dnld and move CarHomeLauncher.apk to /system/app and set permissions to rw-r-r with a file explorer (I use RootExplorer).
Reboot and voila

And what does moving it do? I downloaded and installed both files and its now in my app drawer and opens fine..

Also if I'm in landscape and I hit phone option it shoots it to portrait

Oh wow so it works? hmm...

Moving it into system/app and setting the permissions allows it to work properly. But you seemed to have achieved that already :p

About the phone going into portrait...are you missing an option somewhere maybe? Are you stock I'm guessing because I don't know anything about where rotation options are located on stock.

I am still stock, not rooted at all.

However it is working fine, just installed both of those apks and open it through app drawer.. however the dialer is useless but I can just setup an entire page of direct dials for my contacts I suppose.

I should have known as this wasn't in the root section sorry about that. Glad it somewhat works for you though. iron_city's post looks like it could work for you as well

This works great. Better than vlingo in car which can't understand me over the road noise anyway. And I can add quick links. Awesome.

Why wasn't this included with the GNex? Google made this.

Thank you SO much for this! I've spent the better part of the afternoon trying to find this as I prefer the simple interface Car Home offers. I d/l'd and installed both of the apks above and it works perfectly on my rooted Sprint Sammy GS3 without having to move anything. I use a TecTile sticker in the car holder to launch the app. I don't know why Da Google says it's not compatible but I can confirm that it works with Jelly Bean. Once I found this post Car Home was up and running in less than a minute!

I was using this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1257329

(I used cwm recovery to install the signed package)
It still works (kind of) on stock 4.2.1, only when I exit the car mode I get a "Unfortunately, Launcher has stopped." error. When I press ok I am back in the launcher.
Any suggestions?
