AD2P (Bluetooth streaming) poor playback quality.

Hello.

I got a car stereo with AD2P, and I hoped to use my HTC hero as music player.

But the playback quality is bad, the song plays like normal, but every 30 seconds or so it "stop" playing for 1/2 seconds.

Anyone know if there are an fix out there, or if the developers are aware of it?

I have stereo BT in my car too and my Hero works great with it. So good in fact that I bougt a BT speakers system for the home too , called Supertooth (WTF?) and the Hero does its things with that too,no probs, even though my N97 sounds somehow better, (maybe).

Just thinking: could it be your music player app? I use only and exclulsively "Rock on" , which is free, beautiful, and ...the best in every sense. The player there was originally on the Hero was a nasty joke.

Hello, I tried with both RockOn and the music player that came with the Hero.

Maybe I can se if I can try my phone on another device than my car player..

But I know the car player should work fine, because I used it with my Nokia N82.

Today I tried to compare my Nokia N97 and the Hero on the car's BT connection and you are absolutely right: the Nokia sounds way better.
I have a nagging suspicion that the Hero's sound even though it comes out from all the speakers it's not stereo.
Could that be true?

Oleost. Got the same problem with the Htc magic using the motorola T505 (bluetooth to FM transmitter). I know it is not the T505 as the iphone works fine with it. Headphones doesn't have the issue so it probably isn't the software, so as you said, something is wrong with AD2P.

Sorry though, I have found no answers to fix it.

I had the exact same issue with my mytouch3G. I solved it by turning off wifi when im in the car listening to it. It felt as though when it scanned for wifi netoworks it would cut into the bluetooth making a small moment of silence. Works perfectly now.

I just had to check out Shane's wifi theorem , and it looks like it's absolutely true and that one more of our telephones' quirks has been exposed; BUT , in my experience, the theoreme holds only if the Hero is scanning for networks and not when it's locked in into a network.
In fact when I use it at home whith my BT speaker system , it sounds great and there's not lag whatsoever.

Just out of interest on this topic (kind of), are any of your car stereos able to choose the playlists/music to play. Or does it still have to be done from the phone? Thanks.

I have a Sprint HTC Hero running rooted Android 2.1. The issue of Bluetooth streaming to A2DP (stereo) or mono headsets is an ongoing issue with this device. I've tried several headsets with the same results: when listening to podcasts via A2DP bluetooth, the feed is choppy (i.e. cuts in and out). Mono streaming doesn't work at all. Since other users report this is an issue with android phones from a variety of manufacturers, Google seems to be the culprit. This obviously won't be fixed on older Android versions, so the only solution for me will be a replacement phone.

I'm looking forward to Windows Mobile 7. Maybe Microsoft will get this right. But, I'm an optimist...
